Hi
Bought a Music Man Stingray but just couldn't get on with the neck in the upper frets so took it back to my local shop and was given a whole load of basses to try including a Fender Marcus Miller and a Custom Shop Jazz but ended up falling love with a Sandberg Ken Taylor 4. So easy to play and a gorgeous sound. I also tried a beautiful Bubinga Bullet but didn't like the sound. So please with the bass but couldn't find much about it on the Sandberg site as apparently the version I have is no longer produced. It's in this strange clotted cream colour with a very dark maple fingerboard. the pickups have the sandberg logo on them so not sur eif they are Sandberg pickups or the other brand they use. anyone help? I think this one has an Ash body. Have emailed Sandberg the serial for more info.

I like this sandberg. One or tow week ago, a guy posted a youtube link to this bass.
I think sandberg uses sandberg pickups for all their bass except for the J pickups which are delano.

EDIT: here's the link

Jonathon

Hello Jonathon!
I'm glad you are enjoying that wonderful Sandberg.
I may answer your question telling you that it's a 20th Anniversary Ken Taylor model. The fretboard is birdseye maple. The pickups are made by Sandberg working threw a 3-band EQ also from Sandberg, which permits the splitting of the humbuckers in single coils. The bodywood is Alder and neck Maple.
Until now I have only seen that model as a five string Link Removed, yours is the first 4 stringer that has caught my eyes.
I can't remeber the date these were sould I guess it was 2008, now you can't find them anymore. All sold out!
Not many people own one just like it.

Can someone tell me what the string spacing is no a PM4 please.
Also the neck measurements would be very handy as well.
I cant get to try one but quite interested in getting one.

Thanks

The neck is like a J bass neck.
The strings' spacing is adjustable.
Here are the specifications I received from Sandberg:

4-string:
neck: canadien hardrock maple
fingerboard radius: 14 inch
width, zero fret: 39mm
width, 22. Fret: 63mm
string spacing: 18,5mm to 19,5mm ( adjustable)
size frets: 2,8mm
weight:
body from alder 4,1 - 4,4 kg

Thanks very much. Those specs look great.

I was planing on getting a SR4 but im very tempet ot go for a PM4 now. I know the tone wont be exactly like a SR4 but its probably close enough, and having a P tone on tap is going to be ideal.
Great basses. Just need to find a Blackburst with dots on the fretboard for a decent price.

I'm more than happy with my PM4 !
the tones are great (with the P pickup, with the MM pickup and with both pickups).
I was used to J necks but wanted a P sound. Sandberg did it.

PM blackburst:

I think sandberg neck have dots only if you take a bass from the "Supreme serie" (which has inlays).
All of their other basses don't have dots (but there are dots on the side of the neck)
