I'd be more in line with top #2, but I have never seen a spalted top like #1 cut along the other axis. Could turn out interesting.

I seem to be behind on inquiring about my j-jj 6er. I'll have to resume after the weddin'.

I think we are on the same page i just think the first one could end up being a little more interesting looking in the end. top #2 has a more normal maple spalt look to it which i really dig but id like to see what Chris can do with my first choice ha.

Oh yeah... my bass.

Here are the specs:
33" 6-String Single-Cut Neck-Through
Holly Top
Mahogany Body
Maple Neck w/ Gabon Ebony Fingerboard
Holly Ramp
Aero Pickups with (you guessed it) Holly covers
Mike Pope preamp
Gold Hardware
Mandolin Frets
Bass Clef Snail inlay

Man, I just saw/heard you perform with this bass on YouTube...wonderful execution and tone! What a fantastic bass you have there. If I may ask, what brand and gauge strings are you using?

Thanks a lot! Very kind of you!

I was using Fodera strings at that point- the lightest gauge. I also use Curt Mangan strings- they sound and feel remarkably similar- always the lightest gauge I can get.

Chris

I just scored this on a trade. Pretty sweet bass.....I am impressed.

If that's the same one that's been up on the classifieds a few times, I've had to restrain myself from pulling the trigger on it more than once. Awesome bass.

Needs a little knob help, though. :p

Yup, yup....it's the same one. Those are the knobs I got on it in the trade......different than previous pictures i've seen around here...but no matter, I have the nice black metal Aquilar type knobs on there now.
Actually, I've got the bass torn apart right now. I am sanding it all down. Gonna do some reprofiling of some curves and put a nice gloss finish on her. It'll be sweet.:D
