For shows i use Bass 2:00 Mid 4:00 (sometimes all the way up) and treble- noon. This works great with and overdrive in front, set for more high end.
Recording, forget it, i'm not even sure what we landed on with the eq. But I do know that a) I officially hate the studio and b) the meatsmoke pre, while sounding amazing mic'd, did not shine with the dedicated recording output. Oh well.
I should also mention that the engineer hates any kinda of hair on the bass, be it od, distortion or fuzz. We butted heads the whole time.

edit: This kinda brought me to the idea to possibly sell. For the price, the pedal should be awesome both live and in the studio. But I've come to the conclusion that it's the engineer/producers fault. And sounding amazing live is more than half the battle.
However, I still miss the VT. And when the new DI comes out this May I will most likely buy it, it's only 200 boxes of macaroni. Not bad at all.

Made from all recycled material. Actually, its just stuff I didn't know what to do with from my shelf...

Step One: Local upholstery friend cuts and glues industrial foam to fit old Anvil Briefcase.

Step Two: Pedal sits snug in insulation.

Step Three: Extra layer with phallic cut (hey, its the effects forum - pretty common around these parts) to keep the knobs safe.

Step Four: Ready to take on the TSA!

That white is posh. Great choice.

Unfortunately while my Meat Smoke head was in the hands of UPS my fuse/fuse holder was broken. Major bummer but Ben has been fully helpful with the situation and is paying for all repairs. Bittersweet. At least I can look and admire it now :)

Ben says the MS racks should be in the mail by the end of next week :)

I spoke with Ben today and it looks like I'm going to have mine modded so that I will have 2 independent channels (each requiring 2 tubes per channel).

This will allow me to use my RIC's Rick-O-Sound feature (1 channel for each pup). He's also adding a toggle switch to one of the channels so that I will have the ability to blend both channels.

One of the things I like about Ben is his willingness to listen to what a client is asking for. He sent me an email with a picture of the preamp. I thought it would be a great idea to make it into a 2 channel preamp. I emailed him my thoughts then spoke to him on the phone. He was totally down to making this happen. Great great guy :)

I was wondering why the volume drop was so strong when I engaged my Meatsmoke? I usually don't like anything that goes through the effect loop of my amp but I tried it just to see and Madone!! what a difference I thought it sounded good before but now the volume is there and it really sounds even better. I must have hooked it up wrong before but it is the cat's meow now.

How are people utilizing their MSPre?

I will be running my rack pre through a Crown XLS1500 primarily. This will make for a super lightweight, super loud 4U rack rig that I'm hoping will sound good enough that I can sell my Ampegs. If it sounds REALLY good I'll probably use the Ampeg money to pick up a real Meatsmoke head and retire the preamp to the studio.

I also just found a vintage Garnet tube power amp on the local classifieds for super cheap. I think it's only 50W, so I'll probably just use this for recording and smaller gigs, but it should give that cranked tube tone we all love at reasonable volumes. It's just at the doctor getting a checkup right now, but I'm eager to try it out.

Looks like I'm handing in my keys. I'd like to suggest mjac28 as the moderator, if everyone is cool with that. I'm stoked for the B7K and it will also be nice to pay a few bills. I can't wait to let you guys hear our record, which is all meatsmoke. I'll post here when it comes out.
