I swung by Ben's shop yesterday and got the resistor mod on my MS Pre. Very painless, and as Ben indicated its just a precaution as I've never had any problems.

Not to Buzzkill the thread, But I'd like you to spread the word on this if you can. I'm listing my Meatsmoke head for sale at Bass NW. Its pretty much mint, I received it this spring and its only had 3 shows on it - without question, the nicest head I've ever owned.

The reason I'm selling: My 10-year old daughter's cancer has returned. We're optimistic, but we're digging in for a few months of treatment that's going to cost us....please don't ask about selling it direct, I really don't have time to ship or haggle right now. I will be listing a few pedals here on TB, but I need to spending more time with my family during this period.

All proceeds are going back direct to my daughter's cancer fund. *And Evan Sheeley the owner of Bass NW is a cancer survivor and has been a strong advocate for my daughter as well. Ben has been following her story and spoke to me yesterday about this too - she's got a lot of supporters out there and we're grateful for that.

Below are links to the Bass NW site, and another to the Facebook group that has been organizing fundraisers and support for my daughter. The cancer is a malignant Brain tumor, she gets her next MRI Sunday and we're hopeful the chemo has stabilized the tumor and that the proton radiation will kill it...

I still have my pedal, and will hold on to it as long as I can. Thanks for your Prayers...

Thanks! I decided to go with the pedal version. I like the fact that i can just put it in a case (I ordered and received the same (gun) case that was posted in the forum earlier from Amazon) and go to an occasion with a full blown PA present (or recording studio). Love the fact that I can hook the output directly to the FX in on my amps. Full Blown MeatSmoke....ahh....in my dreams I guess....ONE day :)...i remain hopeful!

I love my preamp so much, I recently reconsidered my plan to eventually replace it with a real Meatsmoke.

Not that I don't want still one, its just that I feel I've got 90% of the tone already for a fraction of the price (and weight). Might buy one some day, but for now I've got so many other things to spend that kind of money on.

So I tried my rack meatsmoke for the first time today in a band setting and had an extreme volume drop on both channels. Is this a common issue with any of you? I tried seeing if my peavey 120/120 was the issue by plugging it into the cab by itself but it was completely fine. Cables were fine too.

Was the volume drop consistent or intermittent? I had some sort or random dropping out and then coming back in this week, but I was more inclined to think that it was a power issue more than any piece of gear.

It was consistent for the whole night. im going to try the same setup after work and hope nothing is seriously wrong. I literally just got my rackmount 2 days ago

Keep us informed. Make sure you're using the best speaker out jack on the 120/120. I know if I use the wrong one when I'm in Mono running 1 cab on mine it starts to cut out. I assume it's like having a primary speaker out and an additional speaker output.

On the back of the unit, there may a switch by your output jack. It's labeled "Low/High". If it's on low, flip it to high.

He put that on there for when you use the 1/4" output to record.

That simple thing has caught me off guard on more than one gig.

Just ordered a MS Pre Rack a few days ago. I ordered it with a guitar/line level switch on the front so I can warm up my Nord Lead when I use it for recording. Primarily, however, I want to use it it for gigs. Right now I'll be putting it the amp return of my trusty ol' GK 400RB, but would like to get a decent SS amp. Anyone have recommendations for a nice power amp to use with the MS pre?

I was trying to keep the idea of tube rolling out of my head, because I do NOT need anything else to obsess over right now haha.

I have a couple of "upgrade" tubes in V1 of my 3PRO and SWR IOD, a Tube Amp Doctor and a Mullard reissue I think... I'd be tempted to pull these and try them in my MS, but I seem to recall not noticing much of a difference when rolling these through my SVT 3PRO.

If I would start rolling tubes, I'd be looking for tighter bottom end (less pillowy) and a little more clarity/headroom, so if you find something, let us know.

Well, I am on my way out of the club. It is sad. Ben is a great guy. Just put my second gen pedal in the classifieds. I'm glad I got to try it. In the end, it was too big to fit one pedalboard, and I got tired of carrying in another case for gigs every week. I am going to have Ben build me a 1x15 combo amp with a DI. Love the tone, but need something more efficient to lug around.
