College room problem..

Thanks for the input guys.

I think I am going to give it another week since I've only been here in this suite for one week, and see how it goes. If it's still really bad, I'll talk to my RA and work from there.

Go directly to the Student Housing Director with a written complaint. Have the complaint time-stamped and dated by the Student Housing Office. Have the letter noted as cc'd to the two/three top administrators (have all copies to show the housing director) Dean, Chancellor, and/or University President.

Fill out any complaint form they give at the housing office. Tell them exactly what you expect. If they drag their feet or don't follow through, submit the letters and copies of the complaint to the administrators listed above.

I did it at UH Manoa and it never went beyond the Student Housing Director. Changes were made within one week.

Good Luck!

I just typed up a letter documenting everything and requesting to move. I'm going to see my RA tomorrow; if that doesn't work I'm going to the Housing office with that letter.

Good for you. It's cliche, but do what we used to do in the military: "take it up the chain."

If your issue isn't addressed/fixed by your RA, take it further up the chain. Eventually someone will pull their head out their ass and get the problem fixed.

When that's all done, start hitting the gym. People will be a lot less likely to disrespect you when they think you'll smash their face in.

I can't believe all the bad advice you're getting from people telling you to stick up for your right to peace and quiet so you can study. The whole reason for you to go to college is to learn how the world works, and these noisy kids you're whining about are your greatest teachers. They know that life is one big party and the good times never stop. Going to bed early and wasting your life on studying or working some difficult job is for chumps. You need to have fun right now and leave the hard work to others (pay some sucker to go to class for you and take notes) so you can go out and get drunk and listen to music at full volume and score some chicks and everything else that's important in life.

This is America, and the good times will never end for you as long as you remember to leave the hard work to others.

I'm not sure how your school works but this has been my experience. If they are in a fraternity how come they are not living there? If they are pledges they probably move in at semester. I mean it would suck but techinically if im right youll only have to deal with them one semester. I had to go through similiar things my college career. It will suck but i lived in 7 different places in 4 years of college so odds are its only temporary.

So what's the problem?

Yeah, I can't see a problem here except for the fact that you're not laying down the rules at YOUR place of resident. For instance, if they are coming back at 3 am they need to return with extra beer, and an extra sorority chick for your trouble. Fair is fair. If they aren't willing to do that, then write them up. Either that or drop a turd on their chest and blame it on the slag that left in the middle of the night. OR if you can't beat em join em. Being in a fraternity was some of the best times I don't remember.

hmmm why not see if there is another party loving fraternity guy in another suite filled with normal students. Go up to him politely and ask him if you would like to switch dorms, mention that your suitemates are also party lovers and see if he likes the idea (also make sure his suitemates are fine with it, I'm sure they would be). Then everybody is happy, you get your sleep and stuff while he gets to party every night. Only thing is this idea should be strictly under the table, don't tell the university about it, every night just go to the switched room.

I've worked at universities for 27 years. Here's the scoop.

First, call the RA....just so you can say you have. But there's not much they can do.

Next, call the University's President, or the Vice-President for Student Services (or related title). Tell them the problem the way you outlined it above, then stand back and watch the feathers fly.

This is called "bypassing the chain of command". Everyone at a college hates it, but when students know how to do it, action usually results.

The top level folks at the college won't stand for this kind of crap. If they don't give action, then call your parents and have them make calls to the same top people. If that doesn't work, tell the college your next call will be the local newspaper.

ask the college to put u back in the hotel and pout someone on the waiting list in your room, and then wait for another place to open up for u.

or do what i did, rent a house off campus with people who are serious about their school work.
You are in over your head in that situation. Start a journal, and start documenting everything that goes on there including the corresponding times that they occur. Go present your evidence to the school and cut some kind of deal.

What are your priorities? Act accordingly to achieve that goal(s). Time is a wasting! :smug:

Screw all these other comments. Here's what you do. On a night when they drink themselves absolutely stupid, wait til your roommates pass out. Get the 2 biggest guys next to each other, and take off as much of their clothes as you can. Take some egg whites, and spread it on their mouths and man-bits. Get rid of the evidence, and say nothing to anyone. Nothing ends frat parties like the threat of subconscious homoeroticism.

I did this to a couple of guys back in college. Good times. They never looked at each other the same again.

LMAO. The only problem is trying to explain yourself if they wake up in he middle of you taking their clothes off. Talk about homoeroticism.

The problem is that these guys are stuck in that high school mentality. They claim themselves to be "all that is man" but the crap they pull is immature and childish. They constantly trash talk other people behind their backs, talk about how and what they did to some passed out drunk sorority girl the night before, and loudly spew other misogynist, homophobic, and racist filth. Although they've been decent to me, they treat everybody who is not a member of their fraternity lower than garbage. My actual roommate is not in their "circle", and got dropped in with them by random sorting. He's basically their punching bag and they bully him to no end. He just takes it and actually almost invites it, as if them bullying him will somehow get him to fit in with them. It's pretty sickening to watch.

I know that if I do speak up, I had better have an open dorm already available for me to move into, or it would be a total nightmare.

This is why technical college is better. You don't have to constantly be there, and you learn a trade in which your pretty much guaranteed a job for after you get out, atleast I was.
