College room problem..

I'm not sure how your school works but this has been my experience. If they are in a fraternity how come they are not living there? If they are pledges they probably move in at semester. I mean it would suck but techinically if im right youll only have to deal with them one semester. I had to go through similiar things my college career. It will suck but i lived in 7 different places in 4 years of college so odds are its only temporary.

They're already members, not pledges. I think they're not allowed to live in the fraternity house until junior or senior year.

I just got back from speaking with my RA, and he said he'd meet with the resident director on Wednesday. In the meantime, he also suggested I talk to the guys about it and see what happens.

Stay tuned for further developments!

Stick to yer guns Vince!
Worst I ever had in college was a TV-holic but that was in a rent house so I slept every minute he was home and flip-flopped my sleep habits for 6 months. He graduated with a D minus. What a waste of $$$$.

The "up the chain" or "bypass the chain" works REAL good in this sort of situation. It even works here on "the outside"(i.e. got the runaround on a cellphone bill? Certified Letter to the CEO fixed it REAL quick).

After reading over the thread I should clarify a few things:

The "punching bag" reference is a proverbial one; there's no actual physical altercations going on. I meant that they dump a lot of blame/teasing on him, and he seems to accept it. It's actually very hard to tell if they're serious in their blame or acting in a jocular way. Either way, it seems to bug me way more than him, but I just can't put up with immaturity.

Update:

I talked to my RA and he talked to the Resident Director; basically, the RA said that I should "talk to the guys", and he'd call a meeting and just say something general like "I've gotten some complaints from other people on the floor about your noise levels at night" etc. But the consensus is that they won't allow me to move.

I have those letters typed up and ready to go, but now I'm debating whether or not I should. After giving it another week I've gotten a bit more acclimated to the noise and the guys seemed to have toned it down a bit.

Hang onto those letters in case you need them. If things get out of hand later on, don't waste time with the RA and Resident Director. Go straight to the Student Housing Director. The risk you take by waiting, is that the noise problem may resurface during exams (especially midterms).

Good advice. Keep your guns loaded. Remind them if they get out of line, and if they don't correct it fast, send the letters.

When they fall asleep do the same thing to them. Crank the morning radio *loud*. I'm sure there must be other dormmates who feel like you do. Get together with them and be LOUD when they are sleeping. When the frat boys get pissed off about being woken up, tell them maybe they should go to bed earlier. Or "what, you dont like it when people are being inconsiderate when YOU are trying to sleep?" Sounds like a bunch of A-holes to me. You have to speak their language otherwise they'll walk on you like a door mat.

I just ordered a set of Logitech speakers with amp and subwoofer :D

Not necessarily for this purpose, but it will come in handy!

Dude! You're a f****** bass player! :eyebrow:

Set up your rig and turn it up all the way and demonstrate to those ignorant goofs what REAL noise sounds like the next time they're sleeping.

They can find out how hard it is to rest with 125 db Sound Pressure Level making the building pulsate at 40 hz. :bassist::ninja:;):D
