Colloquially, where do you live?

I live in a small town, called Woolgoolga. Over the years, (and possibly for no good reason), it has developed the nick name "Woopi". Perhaps people are too lazy to say Woolgoolga, or maybe Woopi seems like a fun place to be.

Most cities have a "also known as" label, what is yours, and why?

I don't know that Rancho Cordova Ca. has a nick name. In the greater Sacramento area that is a good thing. We were the recipients of the All-American City Award though.

Queens and Brooklyn are part of the island called Long Island, but they're not part of what's known as Long Island. So I live in Queens, which is part of New York City, but it's on the island called Long Island but not the area known as Long Island.

While i'm not in the closest city, i'm not far from what is known as the greater metro area of Birmingham, AKA Bumingham, Bombingham, Smoke City, The Magic City, and The Tragic City. There are other nicknames, mostly used by the rather large contingent of CAVE people who actually reside in the greater metro area, but i'm pretty sure they would bring the banhammer.

We also have some cute nicknames for the state. Alabummer, Bamie, and Talibama to name a few.

I spent my formative years in a small town where some brave (or bored) soul climbed the water tower and with black paint lined out the town name and wrote GRIT CITY above it.

I follow the five million other drivers that are in my way for my hour long commute home that takes 17 minutes in the morning.

Here's a bonus: I work in Long Island, which is on the island called Long Island, but I live in Queens, which is on the island called Long Island, but is part of New York City, so I get to pay a New York City tax.
