A friend of mine (who doesn't frequent this site) had his car broken into and bass stolen in the Colorado Springs area 2 weeks ago. He lives right outside of town in Falcon, goes by 'Lucky', and is well known in the CS area. As he's a very private person - feel free to PM me or post here, and information will be transferred to he and the local law enforcement authorities. This is a very distinct looking 2005 Carvin LB75 (5-string) he bought new and has the Carvin chip embedded in it (for whatever that is worth). Friends are assisting with funds for a newly ordered instrument, as he's currently only working part time. Everyone can appreciate impact of the loss of one's only bass, I trust, and any help would be more than appreciated PLUS rewarded. Thanks in advance...Whitey

If you haven't done this yet, reach out to all the pawn shops from Pueblo to Denver. Punks like that rarely steal to play. They usually steal to feed some kind of habit...

I happened to go pawn shopping this weekend with a friend looking for an acoustic guitar for her brother... hit 9 shops around the area, didn't see it unfortunately. But that was just central(ish) denver... and I imagine a bass like that would be gone pretty quick.

pawn shops hold onto stuff for 30 days before they are allowed to sell it, that's when the serial number might raise a red flag if there's a police report with it on file. after that period, they can sell it, so it might turn up in a shop or on ebay.

Huh... I didn't know about the 30 day thing. I don't really do much pawning, and there's a reason... In my friend's price range ($100-150), we were dealing with guitars that were missing strings, tuning pegs that didn't work, cracks in the neck joints or even on that had a crack along the whole top... All on no-name brands. We ended up going to GC and getting her little brother a new Epiphone for $129.

Thanks to all of you for keeping your eyes open for this bass! It seems when one is down......there's always some jerk around to kick you in the chops and keep you down. My friend could use a break, but he has the support of other friends that will make sure he plays on. It was a bass he had worked long to afford to have made, and was everything he loved and wanted in a bass (looks, sound & playability). The same happened to me many years ago, and I understand the "personal" tragedy that accompanies it's theft. I believe he was going to Pueblo early this morning to follow up on a lead from the owner of a pawn shop. There are wonderful folks out there beating the bushes, and lending support to his efforts. I appreciate the attention here - and so does he

I would also reccomend putting a BOLO out on Craigslist with the pic posted here. (Post # 687)

I'm, personally, not familiar with the term BOLO, but another friend of his is very well versed in dealing with aspects of Craigslist on a national level, and updates info to us all. So far......nothing solid to go on. He's fortunate to have acquaintances and friends that can assist him on several levels. It warms the heart that folks have jumped in to help. Then again......we bassists are special :smug:
