US: West Colorado Club

serious...that's true.

Yeah. Literally everyone in this town plays guitar, bass, does vocals, or some combination thereof. Drummers are all crazy stoners that show up to practice once a month or tell everyone they're in your band and never show up again. Lol.

Also, if any of you CO guys like sort of indie/stoner/folk rock you should keep an eye out for my buddy's band Big Green Carpet. They went through a rough spot trying to find, ironically, a new drummer. But they're doing shows again and they're great live performers.

I *think* this has been asked before, but...

What are some good pawn shops around Denver that are good for music gear? I've been to a couple, but am getting a craving to go exploring.

I have a pawn shop and it's full of genz gear... ok, not really I don't have a pawn shop but I have lots of genz gear...hit me up if you looking for something in the form of genz.

:bassist:

I feel like eBay destroyed the pawn shop ethos. I always hoped I would walk in to some shop in the suburbs and find a 63 Precision which neither its owner nor the pawn broker properly valued. Not these days.

Yep, I'll be back more often now that I have a jobby job again. I was just up there hanging out with Dan a couple weeks ago for like 4 hours. He put together that killer Lakland 4-string Pbass with flats... and then put the sold sign on it so he could keep it. lol

I'm planning on another trip up this saturday or next for an Octamizer. It's gotta be saturdays since I work when you guys are open during the week!

But I'm also looking for pawn shop stuff... I want to do a torched bass like Larry Hartke's, or something I can "mojo-fy."

Yeah, the grey ghost (pic attached) is something special... I almost wish I had snatched it instead of the sunburst 44-64! We've gone on a modding binge of late for our own projects, so between that one, a bass VI, painting a squier mustang, replacing pre's in my Lakland AJ, rewiring projects, bringing a Kwai back from the dead, Dan's pedalboard and keeping everything set up with this crazy weather, we're always tinkering with something! Dan's Modulus/Warmoth fretless should be done this weekend, it's a thing of beauty!

Things cone and go every week, a used USA MTD 4 most recently came in, but we should have several new Lakland's in soon!

Dan played that Bass VI for me, and if I played guitar, I probably would've snatched it up. Man it sounded killer. I could spend SO much money in your shop. Lol

I absolutely loved the flats on the Ghost. The Chromes I had on my Pbass felt like playing tree trunks, they felt super thick despite being listed as the usual gauge I play. I think Dan said the flats he put on that Lakland were LaBella... Will have to check them out.

Are you normally there on Saturdays or are you a weekday guy?

I'm almost always there on Saturdays, the last few weeks were hit and miss with family in town and trips out of town... I'm there some Fridays as well, but not regularly scheduled.

I think those are Lakland flats actually... I could be wrong though. I like them more than chromes as well, they are a lighter gauge and feel more flexible.

Cool, then I'll see you either this saturday or next... depends on if I have to be in the recording studio this weekend. :)

Have to give my 2 cents... Premier is an awesome shop! We are lucky to have a bass-dedicated store in town. I regularly travel across the midwest and into the southeast with an eye out for mom/pop instrument stores in the towns which I drive through. Dedicated bass shops are seriously hard to find. And the guys in there are great. Dan, Matt, Alex, Mahlon...

Alex? Ohhhh I remember that guy... he sold me a pre-CBS Burled Alder string stretcher... He's an awesome guy.

Well, thanks to my buds Dan, Eric and especially Alex at Premier Bass! Because of them (and the Aguilar Octamizer I picked up while I was there today), my main pedalboard is done.

Yep, you heard me.... done. FINISHED.

Stop in and say hi to those guys and slap your eyeballs on Dan's latest project, a beautiful cherry burst Warmoth Jazz body with a Modulus Fretless neck!
