I don't have/play in a band yet waiting to get a short scale bass sometime soon so I'm hoping that will change since this full scale is holding me back a bit from learning more songs.

The indefensible position -

I didn't dig the Bass Slam at the Oriental last year, even though I really like the O as a concert venue. I go to the RMBS to listen critically to tone and technique, and I loved the intimacy of the place they were doing it in Boulder (which I admit was become too small for the crowd). The O, though, sounds a little big and boomy for that I want that event to be.

I'll still go though.

The USAF has blessed me with a dramatic and unmistakable change of life by sending me from Aurora to Colorado Springs this summer. Yeah. Been here for 5-1/2 years, and didn't damned make it very far with this move, did I? Thanks, The Man. Thanks.

Anywho, I'm looking forward to the smaller-than-this-retardedly-huge-metropolis-of-Denver-metro pace. Might actually be so compelled to venture out into the community and find some other musicians.

Thoughts? Tips? Comments?

As with bass gear, I'd say it's really a matter of personal preference. However, if you're looking to move without knowing where a job would be located, I'd say someplace more central would probably be better!

if schools are important:
cherry creek school district, south!
douglas county schools

willow creek elementary school west of ikea off i25 & dry creek, that feeds into cherry creek HS, (huge school)

castle pines north area, feeds into rock canyon (?) HS

this area has a gigantic medical complex in development and is near the tech center and light rail into downtown. ikea is just north of guitar center, connecting parking lots even (hehe).

Correct, and Rocky Heights middle school. There is also American Academy there, a very highly rated charter school where our daughters both attend.

Check out Lakewood. St Anthony's is a brand new hospital on Union near Alameda that brought lots of jobs to the area (nurse). The west line for the light rail is 5 minutes up the road and goes straight to Denver (accounting).
