Still new to TB, just found this thread. Been in Colorado for almost 18 years now. Only started playing bass a few months ago though.

I am back. I still belong to the Seattle bass nerds but I am home again.

I've lived out here since 05 and have only ever driven past, one of my guitar players says she likes to down there to gear shop as it's less of a market she finds better stuff. No idea on the seen I'm sure someone here knows though.
I've played the Springs a bunch of times. I'm aware of two things happening down there. The first is the praise/worship scene. The other is the metal/doom scene: This is the one with which I have experience.
Between the Triple Nickel, the Black Sheep, The Zodiac, and the Flux Capacitor (an amazing DIY spot, may it ride to Valhalla, shiny and chrome, and someday return), there is some cool stuff. I always wonder how much the heavy scene is in response to the conservative values associated with the Springs.

Lived in the Springs since '08. There is a minimal music scene. Minimal gigs for cover bands and for original it's mostly punk and metal.
From what I've heard, the bigger country bars are about DJs instead of bands.
Well, I'm a hard rock/metal/doom kind of guy so I'm glad to hear there's some of that going on.
That's super lame. IME, top 40 country cover bands can usually stay busy if they're good.
Well being out here on the east side of CoSpgs, I figured it was too damned suburban to have any culture. Maybe I should cross I-25 once in a while.

Hey everyone so we were talking at work yesterday and it looks like we need to find a new person to run our counter position.
What we're currently doing is four days a week but mostly we just need someone to man the showroom on fri/sat when it's most busy so in that we're flexible.
Ideally we'd like to find someone looking to pick up some extra income /learn audio hifi guitar electronics in addition to their full time gig as what we're able to pay ain't a lot in this bizz, in other words ya got to be in it for the love of it.
The majority of this is selling testing and just general dealing with vintage and hi end hifi gear. The showroom is all oldschool and hi end hifi for sale so that is the bulk of it. Outside of that Myself and Eric (the owner) are both musicians and the majority of what I do is repair gear so if you're working the counter you'll be checking that stuff in and out and a decent knowledge in this will go a long ways.
Anyways I'll stop rambling on here and just leave it at if you're interested go to our website, come in on a weekday to chat ect.

It’s not as eclectic as Denver, but there’s plenty of metal bands and cover bands. That seems to be the majority in the Springs. Denver is going to get just about every major concert. Springs may get a quarter of them stopping through. Plus, it’s usually a Saturday Denver show with a Sunday springs gig.
One thing we’re getting that Denver isn’t is Venom on 4/24, but y’all get Conan and we don’t....
It’s the reason it exists! A band called Lambasted was the epitome of religious rejection around here. An anti authoritarian sexual deviant punk band.
The rest of us metal heads just live life until the suffocation of existence finally consumes us.

I'm a bass player, currently in St. Louis, and I'll be retiring from my day job and moving to the Denver area in June of this year. I'd like to devote my time to playing more music and I'm curious about the Denver area music scene. I'd like to play in a band doing covers, originals, smooth jazz, funk, even some acoustic stuff (with me still on electric). Are there nice venues for live music?
I've looked at Swallow Hill's web site...it looks like they organize ensembles of different types. That seems like a good way to meet like-minded musicians.
Any info, links, cool music stores for bass gear, venue info, would all be appreciated. Look forward to joining you all in Colorado!
