Columbus, OH GTG??

Would you attend a Columbus/Central Ohio GTG?

I gig with my combo, and I am bringing it, but it's really heavy (Mesa Venture 600 2x10). And it won't put out that many watts without an extension cab.

Carvin makes several lightweight combos with that much power, and they'll make them in either 4ohm or 8ohm configurations for you.

But for carrying around to gigs, combos seem IMO more cumbersome than a seperate head and speaker(s). I can't always move mine without help (and thanks to this thread, from now on, every time I do move it alone, I'll be thinking about that Weird Al song.

Capn, I hope you're going to be feeling better soon.

Thats not it though.. I currently have my Geddy, and my P Warmoth that needs a bit of work.

I want another Jazz bass to be what my Geddy isnt, tone wise. The MM seems like the best thing for that.

But, the Roadworn seems soo cool and perfect for my R&B and blues oriented band.

Its not that I want something different, its that I want another good bass as a back up or main gigging bass..

I havent bought anything yet, so maybe Ill find something at the GTG that makes everything click.

Just wait another day. You'll change your mind. :D

I was just saying that your Geddy is actually a better bass than either of these two, and adding a preamp to your bass would give you all the tonal options you could ever want. Just a thought. But yeah. looking at other stuff might help or it might make things worse. I always tend to GAS mightily after a GTG. :p

Well, seeing that most of the people I PM daily for GAS help, which as Eagle is getting used to, changes daily, Ill post it here.

Okay.. here is the dealio.

By the time summer ends, I will have at the least $1400. I need another cab, but Im holding off as I want to spoil myself with an awesome bass that I plan to take to school when I graduate.

I know, buy a cab.. Not happenin! I have worked all summer to fund a bass, so its going to a bass. I can use my teachers rig until I finish/buy a new rig.

ITs all going to a bass, but if I can save some for bass related upgrades, or towards a cab, thats great.

So.. $1400 towards a bass, give or take some cash.

Throw anything out there guys, I thoroughly research and look through every response!

And I plan to use the GTG as another reference! Of course. ;)

I would see what pops up once you get the cash together. :) Play as many as you can in the meantime. See what you like. You may even decide you don't want a jazz bass. Who knows?

Definitely you could. With the economy in the dumpster right now things are even going for a lot less as well. If you have money, it's a good time to buy a bass.

Btw, I learned on a 70's Precision bass, so anything felt thin after that. You may find after playing your Geddy for so long that anything else will feel fat. Taking some time and making yourself play a bigger neck is like training with weights on. Makes you better and faster when you do go back to the thin neck. :)

The Marcus Miller Jazz bass is awesome. The pickups in it are fine but I replaced mine with Antiquities II anyways. After I replaced the preamp with Aguilar OBP-1, it was absolutely awesome! Seriously, I had a friend with boutique Sadowskys and such and he absolutely loved my bass. He even went as far to say it was the best Jazz bass he ever heard. It sounded sweet... I wish I had kept it but I fell in lust with 5 strings and moved on.

I'm not sure if I'm coming or not. I've got a ton of crap to do for work, so it just depends how much progress I can make. I really want to meet everyone and see some cool gear, so I just have to haul a** getting all my stuff done this afternoon/evening.

I'll also check with my bass playing friend and see if he's interested, too.

Well, looks like I can't make if fellas.
I'm tied up here in Detroit until 1.
I would arrive, help you guys pack up and then have to leave.
So, I'm not coming, because I'm not helping pack up!!! LOL!!
