OP asked for user experiences so here's what I know. I recently picked up a TC BG250-15 for really cheap because it was broken. It was easy to fix and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised with how good it sounds. Will it replace my TT-800, WD-800, or my other higher line stuff? No. But if I had the TC and nothing else I wouldn't be left wanting for much. That is the only combo I have recent experience with. HTH.

Hands down ampeg rb15. From your description this combo fits it to a T. I have one and it’s reminiscent of the old B-15. True ampeg tone that won’t break the bank or your back. My second choice would be a peavey. Big time thumper that also won’t break the bank or your back.
