Compression Pedals

I'm another Markbass Compressore user. I originally bought it for slap, but I found that I loved what it did for my tone so much that I ended up leaving it "always on". It's subtle, but it adds a nice bit of warmth.

If I wanted/needed something more transparent, I'd probably get the MXR. It's easy to power and pedalboard-friendly, two things you can't say about the Markbass.

Both pedals are on the relatively inexpensive side, compared to many other pedal comps of similar quality.

I am now running my emma transmorgrifier on my board, it's a really nice change from what the cs3 was doing for me.

I like the Aggie too much, so I can say it´s my fave comp for this natural sounding, dead quiet and doesn´t adds some colaration to my bass sound. This point is too much important to me. I´ve using the CS-3 in the past to tame some spikes and so I know it so well too. But I had some issues, mainly ´cause it was noisy, it sucked noticiable low end and it´s easy struggle your dynamics. Since this issues it worked for me ´cause I could found some settings that leave me some dynamics free.

I also have and love the trace Elliot smx, it does fantastic things for my sound, I think there is one in the classifieds right now. Dual band compression is an amazing thing for bass players, help me retain attack, tighten up bottom, and still retain a natural, dynamic sound

I've had a Demeter Compulator, an EBS and the MXR. I liked the MXR the best. I don't use a compressor right now. Although listening to XM radio on my computer at works is making me want one. Love that nice tight bass on the smooth jazz station.

Just for later reference, saying something "blows" is negative, it refers to sucking on something ;). If you change it to "blows away" it describes the effect of a bomb or a wind storm knocking everything around, so it is a positive comparison, like the better item is the bomb and the weaker item got blown apart. You can also say "I was blown away by" something, like you were so impressed by something powerful; that's a common good expression. If you say "I was blown by" something, that would mean it got on its knees in front of you, if you know what I mean. :)
