Agreed! I have the red AV 40's plugged into my MAC email machine. They are awesome.
I've never found anything that compares with the M-Audio AV 40's: $150 from most online suppliers.

I made these about a month ago when I saw some cheap Celestion woofers and some no-name tweeters for sale at parts-express, ten bucks each for a 5" neo woofer, two bucks for the tweeters, did some math and used WinISD to determine cab size, tuning, and crossovers, then used some foam and particle board and wood finish leftover from various projects, with the lepai LP-2020A+ amp, came down to $90 shipped. I had to cut the tweeters down so that they'd fit on the baffle, but other than that, I'm loving them - they go surprisingly deep for such tiny speakers, and even though the amp is only 20 watts per channel, they get pretty loud, and the tweeters really help with throwing the treble around. Since then, I've cleaned up my desk, and started to cover the speakers in band stickers.
