Confession

I have one too, '67

Is that a lafayette ?

Oh no! My 12-year old son lusts after these brass harlets.. there seems to be no talking him out of it either!

He even joined the sax section in the Jr High band at his school.. what am I gonna do with him? When will he understand and embrace the 'groove'?
It might take a while, but he'll get there. I got a alto sax for my 30:th birthday, and started playing bass at 42. Slow train coming, indeed!

I played sax all through middle school and high school, then picked up bass in college.

I got a lot more "action" from playing sax live than bass ever got me, FWIW, so it's not necessarily a bad thing. I'd be a lot more worried if he wanted to play the clarinet. :D

I can totally get on board with tuba-coveting. I also have a soft spot for the Union-Jack Les Paul knockoff for sale on Rondomusic, just for the paint job. Oh - and I want a Fender Rhodes suitcase piano. Just so I can make any pianist I play with use it.

I'm not sure if I'm ready to confess all my sins...

I'll start easy. And in the same boat as BartmanPDX.

I know I shouldn't, but it's just so beautiful. Forgive me father for I have sinned.
Oh man.. my other son plays this tainted collection of guilded brass and clanky valves. I talked to him about this long and loud last Sunday.. but all to no avail.. he also will not wear the veil of 'groove'..saying that playing tuba is "just as good as electric bass!".. He is following my other son into the neither-world of Jr High band concerts..

And it gets worse.. (sob) he now also plays lead guitar.. (where have I failed as a parent..where is the want for groove..:crying: )

Yeah I'd like one of those, but I'd definitely ask for my money back... Some j off carved a handle in the top of it..... :hiding:

Interesting fact...the paint swirl Universe on the back of "Passion and Warfare" was a customised model with a monkey grip, like the Jem series have. However, the image was altered and the monkey grip was erased to prevent an influx of orders for Universe guitars with monkey grips.

A friend of mine has that white Jem guitar. He's replaced the knobs, and I think that's it. It plays and sounds amazing, IMO.

He got it for a buck off eBay, plus about $300 shipping. Still a really good deal though.
