They're called "little people knuckles" now. I know, not quite the same ring to it. Anyway, I'm sure we'll be seeing your real rider on thesmokinggun.com soon enough, but I totally believe what you said.

I know you have to be feeling all blowed up right about now on the eve of the tour's kickoff. Reminds me of my first night with Bowzer...except of course for the elaborate staging, the giant venues, the more relevant music, the first class traveling, the much better pay scale, and audiences without oxygen masks. Come to think of it, it's not a thing like Bowzer.

Anyway, once the tour gets under way, I hope you get some time to post some news and pics once in a while. Kick some ass, bro!

man,
that is good, especially the assorted wigs part...

hey JMJ, been a fan of yours for a while...congrats on your new gig, everything sounds amazing.

anyway, on the first NIN rehearsal pics i saw you had your pedal board with you...now, on the latest pics and the rehearsal live footage the board is nowhere to be found...instead i see you have something else on the floor, what is it? what effects are you using with nin??? thanks and have fun touring.

I saw that years ago when I saw you performing with Beck. I just thought that was you're natural hair(fro). :D
Great. Thanks a lot. Now he's going to take it out of the set. Trent wouldn't knowingly recycle a bit from someone else. He should, however, recycle the mud bit from Woodstock 94.

:bassist:

My pedals are all in drawers now, controlled by GCX's and Rocktron All Access (one for my tech, a remote one for me). If my pedals were on the floor, they'd probably be partially destroyed by now, and I'm only two shows in. The chaos of these shows is not kind to pedalboards, so putting them in drawers with MIDI control on deck is the only way to go.

Hey, is Does It Offend You, Yeah opening for you yet? Howard Stern's been playing one of their tunes regularly when this goofy guy JD who works for them enters the studio. They haven't been real kind to the song because nobody likes techno except this JD, so they play it as a way of goofing on him. But I gotta tell you, it's growing on me. Techno dance club music isn't even close to my thing, but I like the way they rock it up. You guys have a real wide fanbase from goth kids to metal heads to straight up pop music fans, most of which can be extremely unkind to opening acts, so I'm curious to see how they go over at your shows.

do you play bass, guitar or synth on God Given? if its a real bass that you're playing, trent gave you the bass line or did you came up with it? im asking becuase i believe that the studio version didnt have a real bass. was it tough to add your own touch on any song ?

I've been aware of Does It Offend You Yeah for a few years now, since before they were signed. Their manager in the UK is a friend. I think they're stuff is excellent. Electronic music is in my blood, and it seems to be likewise in the blood of a lot of NIN fans I have encountered, so I think they'll be into it.

Rubster, welcome to Talkbass. I play bass on God Given. I came up with my parts, yes. Collectively, we worked up a new version of the song as a band that we really like that we will gradually work into the set here and there. Adding my stuff isn't particularly tough in itself; it's an exciting and worthy challenge to find something complementary that adds a new dimension.

Yo. Lemme see if I can get authorization to post details/photos of a rig.

Upcoming Bass Player feature in September will detail, but I'll try and spill before then.

I'm not using Guitar Rig at the moment, actually. It's all analog for me still. I use Guitar Rig tons in the studio and when I record on the road, but I haven't stepped into that world for live mode.

Edmonton tonight. Very excited. Two shows so far have been a thrill for me.

All the best,
JMJ

Before I quite wanted to know but after listening to the slip DVD I REALLY NEED TO KNOW. But I'll be looking out for the Bass player interview.

You clearly are in the best band on the planet Josh is just a machine and Robin is just sick

Justin, you guys are three shows into the new tour, gonna be four after tonight. Is a stage chemistry forming or been made yet with the other guys. Also do they treat you as "the new guy" or the "rookie" since they have all performed with Trent before? I loved the rehearsal videos from The Slip. Is TR planning another live concert DVD from this tour? Thanks for your time and effort here on TB.
