Considering Diamond BCP1 Bass &/or Whirlwind OC Bass Compressor

Looking for recent feedback on these 2 compressors.
I've read a fair number of threads & comments on the two here on Tb.
I like the versatility of the Whirlwind unit & the phatness of tone of the BCP1.
For those who have both or used to have both at different times, can a person get the phatness of the BCP1 out of the OCBass if you add EQ elsewhere in your signal chain (i.e. with bass control at either active bass guitar or amp)?
I use an EB MM StringRay 5 1H into a Genz Benz Contour 500 1x15 combo with 1x15 Ext cab.
That & any other feedback is appreciated!

Tried both comp.
The phatness mojo of the Diamond is really unique.
The Whirlwind is pretty transparent and I don't think imho
you can make it sound like the Diamond with added eq.
I suggest you order both and return the loser of the comp battle !

What a coincidence! Not familiar with the Whirlwind but I'm running my Diamond thru an Epifani / Acme rig at the moment...and I mean right now. I've even got Fox / Trump / Orlando on the telly. The EQ tilt is killer and even better with the 250/900 option.

Get the OvniFX Smoothie, best of both worlds

Not too bad of a price either.

You can even find them for sale used in the Classifieds forum. I've owned all three of the pedals in question (before I figured out I just wasn't a comp guy) and the Smoothie was made by a guy here who wrote the book on reviewing comp pedals (the OC Bass and Diamond of course being two of his top picks) so you know it's good. Definitely check it out.

Will do, thanks!
Yeah, his reviews on Compressor Reviews have helped to narrow down my hunt.
