Not sure I fully understand the black metal thing but it would appear that they have mixed a lot of non religion/Christian religion rejection into the mix.
Something about re-claiming their past belief systems mixed in with some other rebelling and rejecting Christianity, not sure why the satanism thing is needed to drive their point home.
If you truly reject something there is no need to join another club to prove your rejection, that club may just be an upside down mirror of the one you rejected, which is not needed.
They seem like young men rebelling, which is pretty normal in many ways.
I thought the black metal thing might interest you with your knowledge base.

I don't know much about the black metal thing really, maybe I'll watch the metalheads movie and see if I can learn something.
