Humble Pie drummer Jerry Shirley: Syd was a friend of mine who lived around the corner from me when I lived in Chelsea. I was sharing a flat with Willie Wilson the drummer who, like me, played on Syd Barrett's two solo albums. Willie was the drummer for Sutherland Bros. & Quiver. Syd would hang out at our flat a lot and we would drive him to Abbey road to do the sessions for his albums. Syd and I went for a drive to the country one day to visit Steve Marriott at Beehive which is where this photo was taken. That's Achilles one of Steve's dogs waiting for Syd to throw the football for him.
