Randy Rhoads died on on this day in 1982. He was 25 years old.

I had no awareness of him, other than as a name; I looked him up and was stunned. The situation that lead to his death was just…crazy. If it was a movie plot no one would believe it. Reality is stranger than fiction.

I got to see Sun Ra live twice, once in Madison in the mid '70s and once in Chicago in '80 or '81. Both concerts were excellent.
