Wow, that neck is a thing of beauty. Never seen a tele style with the lollipops. And it has heal truss access?

Where is that neck from!

Actually the whole thing is a modified Mike Dirnt model. It is sort of in transition. Someday I hope to repaint it some gaudy flake tone.

Without a pickguard, there is access to the truss rod. When I repaint it (knock wood) I will put a notch in to improve access even more.

Currently it is loaded with an original Rio Grande Muy Grande P and half-rounds, and it's one of the biggest-sounding basses I've ever had.

My original intention when the year started was to sell off the neck and body with the original stuff, but there were no takers, so I modded it. Glad I did. It displaced the other one I had in this thread, which is now gone to several different homes. :)

Here's a 5 string I put together from parts with my 13 year old son. The body is walnut finished in tung oil. It was interesting how the body ended up matching the Pau Ferro fretboard when finished. A very nice father-son project.

I like it, too. What's the story behind the finish?

Just a butterscotch tint and satin clearcoat. My wife and I drew on it and a friend woodburned everything in. It features a small sketch by Batman Inc. artist Chris Burnham - very nice of him to do that for me. Here's the back and a closeup of the sketch.
