Just got mine back from set up today after a total refinish. I think it's pretty cool looking.

Stunning! Love the burgundy mist and tort combo.

What's the story with this one?

It originated from Matsumoku island in the early 80's as a black 32" Squier. Dee-Man was kind enough to sell it to me last year and ship it to JohnK who worked it over with his skilled hands. The original finish was so tough and resistant to stripping chemicals, he had to sand it off. While he was at it, he smoothed the forearm cut. The transition to the body was a bit sharp in his opinion. He fashioned the pick guard from a nitro blank and did his dye and buffing process on it to emphasize the red hue. I went with his recommendation to substitue a Duncan SBP-1 (covers dulled for period-correctness) pickup, as the original had too much midrange emphasis. Yes, there can be too much of a good thing. We agreed that it was worthy of wearing Leo's last name on it's headstock.
