Cop Stop....Yet Again....

Yeah, no kidding, right?

Anyways, all I'm saying is if that I'd ever talked to a cop the way you did, I'd definitely be in a world of hurt - probably in cuffs at some point, and even with no charges I'd still have to spend hours jumping through the police hoops and maybe even go to court. That cop apparently had more important things to do than deal with you, which is lucky for you.

Also, to answer your question, yes: being a mouthy wiseass 80-year-old man is way different than being a mouthy wiseass 19-year-old. Although according to YouTube, cops will Taser just about anyone regardless of age if they say something the cop doesn't like.

I'll give you that. Things have changed since the 90's. Cops have more power than ever...
I've been in cuffs twice, and to court once. Both times, walked away with no issues.
I'm not advocating talking to cops rudely, and it's not my fault that he chose the light issue...twice. But hey, rights are rights. It shouldn't be an all access pass into the depths of your personal life during a traffic stop, just because he has a badge.

A good cop won't care about where you've been on a routine stop. He knew he was had. We've locked horns before, and he got his reward in the end.

That's a good point. And, on that note, I don't like all the negativity in this thread so I will say that not ALL cops are bad and I've had encounters with remarkably kind cops who were genuinely only concerned for the safety of the general public and weren't on a power trip.

Couldn't agree more. As I said, all cops aren't bad. I've worked with some of the best ones. The ones that care about people.
I also understand that working with some of the non law abiding, cop hating people could wear a cop down. Day in and out, it would me too. But all I ask is to be treated fairly, and play by the rules. When I get pulled over for speeding, I admit that I wasn't watching my speed. If I broke the law, I'll man up. But I have a sincere hatred for dishonesty. Even more so with people that abuse their power. My issues, I know. Everyone has theirs :)

I get stopped from time to time driving home from gigs...I'm a ex drink/dope guy...the coppers walk up and smell no alcohol or pakalolo, and they're usually fine. They know in a second if you're going to be trouble for them. If they smell beer or dope on you they GOT to do something, at least ask how many drinks you had.

Nothing has been that bad since I stopped being a big part of the problem.
