Coronavirus discussion thread - NO POLITICS, or "POLITICS by PROXY"

Being a redhead, I have zero gray on my head but my goatee is almost entirely gray. Funny how that works........

I never knew you were a redhead. From your avatar, I thought you were a blue hair. :D

So you're also sporting the salt and ginger beard? I've come to kind of enjoy it and look forward to the eventual salt and salt look.

The hair on my head is entirely grey/white. My beard is almost all the color my head used to be, with a few grey ones sprinkled in. There is a definite line of demarcation in front of my ear. It's wild.

I'll be a blue hair the day I swap my Silverado for a LeSabre. :D

I'm embracing my age, unlike my former service manager. He freaked out the day he turned 50, like death was only a few steps away. I reminded him of my cousin Tom, who was the healthiest person you ever met and he died of brain cancer a month shy of his 47th birthday.

Every day I wake up is a gift and something I don't take lightly. Like Andy Dufrense said in Shawshank Redemption, "you can get busy living, or get busy dying."

Hi guys

. No government in any nation so far as I know has stored years of grain for it's population and while maybe a few have this won't save the entire world from the coming effects.

I live in the rural midwest and just had a first hand conversation about this. Dairy producers dumping milk they cannot sell.

Let's be careful about politics here. This is a very important topic that could go sideways quickly, and I'm hoping that people with knowledge of the situation can weigh in. It is hard for me to see farmers dumping food because they have no way to get it to market, yet lines for food banks stretching for miles.

I think this crisis gives us the time to think about how we organize our lives and how we can do it better.

IMO that starts with food!

I love to cook. That's why I love to think about food! :D

I think this crisis gives us time to think more about food.

All those people who bought (for the first time in their lives) food to cook for themselves.:D :hyper::hyper::hyper:

Maybe they will see food differently (and those who produce all the ingredients that you need!)

I hope food supply is never considered political.

Food production, distribution and supply is and always was, one of the "hottest irons in the political fire"!

Let's don't touch it! ;)

NZ update for yesterday Sunday.
+18 new cases, 14 and 4 probable from 2421 tests.
1330 total cases.
471 recovered +49.
14 in hospital 5 in ICU.

Another rest home has been hit.

Existing clusters keep getting bigger slowly. That looks to me like people are staying contagious for a long time and gradually spreading it in their family units in spite of precautions, and / or people are asymptomatic in those units with not enough testing being done.

All this haircut talk motivated me to cut my hair today.
I sure miss going to the barber where a really nice Korean woman cut my hair just right while sharing recipes and cooking tips with me on all my favorite Korean dishes, but those days will return later
For now, the Wahl home clippers with the #1 attachment will have to do.

FYI, there is no grand solar minimum currently, and the theoretical impact of a grand solar minimum this century is minimal due to anthropogenic warming.

There is no grand solar minimum? I don't know about that. It's been colder longer into the year and it seemed to have started later 2019. Once they start they last at least ten years. The sun so far as I have read does not bounce back and forth between them in a a short period. As far as I have read this one is expected to last our lifetime and then some.

Hi Staff :)

Right now I'm picturing a few billion people needing haircuts at once, and that's kinda fun

I've got more now than I had when I was 18.

the haircut grew out as badly as I figured it would

2: 2019 was the second warmest year on record, and that was without an El Niño.

Well said. Interesting though it may be, I find myself wondering "What could go wrong?" then realizing that if we do discuss it, I won't have to wonder for long.

Carry on (with haircuts, verifiable stats, videos of your cats, etc).

Huge drop in new cases. I have my doubts about that, to be honest.

The number of patients in the hospital seems to have stabilized.
A little increase on ICU numbers, after 4 days of decrease.
