I love my Schroeder 1212L 2X12 cab. 700 watts, 38 lbs... Best of both worlds. between a 4x10 and a 15, can't beat a 2x12 IMO.

RevSound 212 cab is light and loud. Works well in all situations I have.

After a couple of years with my Greenboy 12/6/1 (following many years with various 2/4x10 and 15 setups)- I have serious doubts that even a 2x12 is needed. The only real upside to the second speaker is additional volume.
The 12/6/1 will get WAY louder than appropriate for any venue that doesn't have its own pro-level PA.
It easily supports my Dingwall's Low B string.

If anything, I'd put a 1x12 on each side of the stage, but again it's overkill if you have a good PA

I agree but I see it from a slightly different perspective too.
More volume available means I don't have to turn up as much for the same volume.
The drivers aren't as stressed, and the amp is operating more in its clean region.
I think heat is probably a wash, since it's driving a 4-Ohm load with more available power.
To my senses, there's a visceral upside to moving more air.
But I agree it's a tiny difference...

I still have an EV TL606 which I think is very similar to a 1x15 Bag End.
Also have an EV B115
They sound great but not nearly as full or as much SPL as a good 2x12.
The GB will go very low in freq. Once again disprooving that a larger driver will produce a lower fundamental note.

i have a 212 and it's nice but i much prefer my 215 over it..... and my 215 only weighs 42lbs.

Once I got my 2x12 (Mesa PowerHouse) there has never been any itch to go to anything else for me for many years now. Nothing against 10" speakers which I used for many years in my cabs but the 2x12 gives me that happy medium. Will it for you be the end all? That's up to you you possibly come to that conclusion.

Correction: I was thinking about Aguilar 115 cab, not Bag End. I don't believe I've ever played a bag End, although, I seem to remember some different 15's supplied as backline, years ago, so maybe. Also, as far as the Bassic 15 goes, adding a tweeter was not what I was hoping for, as it almost over powered the Faital. after I sold my first Bassic, I had another one built with a tweeter, but I just could not tame that tweeter down unless it was almost off. Its all coming back to me now.

Just getting used to a pair of 1x12's. Aguilar dB-112 NT. I like the cone roll off more that a tweeter. Hangover from the SVT and fridge. So far I'm liking the Aguilar's a lot. I'll kinda revisit in the new year after fall and holiday gigs and see if this is it for a while or if I am retooling again...

I've heard a few of those amps at GTGs and could happily gig with one, I think. One of those cabs would probably work great at my weekly Americana jam if I weren't doing the slide bass thing, but I am and I've actually been messing with a four tweeter format at home.
