Could this possibly be the best looking fender ever?????

well, actually i was just laid off from my company! i worked for glaceau, the makers of vitaminwater, and smartwater. all communication via email, memo etc. had to be in helvetica thin 35 font and we were not allowed to capitalize any word.

so now, i am trying to stop it while looking for new work, plus being in grad school i really have to be careful:help:

see above!!;)

What a strange corporate mandate. Do you have any idea what the motivation behind this was?

I like the looks of this Fender much in the same way I like a '52 Ford. It's not really "pretty," but is has character and it reminds me of the "good ol' days."

That's a lot of cash, but I'll never say it's not worth it 'til I actually get to play it. And, I'll never get to play it 'cause I'll never have that kind of cash! ;)

FUGLINESS!
That's one of the ugliest things I've ever seen! Nice bridge though.

To the contrary, I don't like Bad Ass bridges - to each their own. I'm not all that inspired by it either. I don't like where the neck pickup is located, I've never really cared for the "Les Paul" knob configuration, I'm not nuts about the pick guard shape.

If it and a 2008 Am Std Fender P and a USA G&L L-2000 were all the same price, the bass that inspired this thread would be the bottom pick for me. There are a lot of basses I'd rather have.

KO

I understand the impulse. But personally, as the owner of a '51 P RI, this one is just a pretender. It's as if you took a Honda Civic, tore off the front sheet metal, added cycle fenders to the front wheels, stuck a pickup bed on the back and called it retro. It's a mishmash of unconnected lines without the integrity of the '51.

And the controls don't look that convenient. A switch on the upper bass bout? That's the least useful feature of my Les Paul, and I don't think sticking it on a bass is going to help.

I'd pass on it $650, let alone $6500.

I am truly in awe of this bass, I really don't know what to say other than WOW!!!! Someone please buy it for me!!!:hiding:

It kinda looks like a Lakland Decade.

After looking again, the strange thing about the pickguard is that its just a tele deluxe (dual humbucker) shape on a p-bass body (the electronics layout is a tele deluxe, too). Why not use a tele body shape or reshape the pickguard?

I like the looks of the tele deluxe humbuckers for sure, though. And I definitely like the looks of the decade best!

the company has a saying "personality with a purpose"

it was something that they did to set it apart from other companies. i hated it personally. no matter every belief it was founded on is changing since coca cola bought them

I'm sorry but I've been completely weirded out had I ever been in the position of exchanging emails with them, I'd assumed they employed a bunch of monkeys on typewriters and couldn't have taken them seriously for the live of me. :eyebrow:

I always thought a bass version of a tele deluxe would be cool, but this doesn't quite pull it off. I still like it though.
A Warmoth version probably wouldn't be to hard to build...
