They do tarnish, but I never felt that affected the sound - I played them long after they were tarnished. However, over time the nylon does stretch and wear more than the core in, say, a Jazz Flat.

I’ve bought at least 10 sets of TI flats over the past many years (decades). Every set I bought has been visually and sonically identical, even as they age. I’ve bought them from music stores, as well as from online retailers (including 2 sets from Amazon described as “accordion accessories”). All the same, in every way.
