Country living...........sucks

Sorry, but it isn't that you live in the country, it is your house that is the problem. You could have a brand new house that is built correctly on the same property and not have a single rodent inside.

lowsound

Thanks genius. I am sure the fact that a cattle farm is 200 ft away, and a large landfill is less than a mile....said to have rats the size of cats. But, as I said before.....this dump is a double wide too, so there isn't much I can do about it.

Put some random placed traps through the house, and caught three of them overnight :(

No rat sightings yet, but 4 mice catches. I am actually considering a cat....but am worried about a culture clash between kitty and the three dogs. I am not really worried about the dogs, but more the cat freaking out. Would it help to get one as a kitten???

Yes, get a kitten, if your dogs aren't aggressive to begin with, they should cuddle with the cat, and it wont be freaked out after awhile.

You need to invest in some good, modern traps... not the cheap run-of-the-mill snap traps. I had the occasional mouse in my basement, and the wooden traps were very hit or miss; they'd steal all the peanut butter off of them. I bought some of the ones that they had to actually go inside and step on a platform to reach the peanut butter... they worked every time. Also, the ones where the peanut butter is kept inside a tray covered with the trigger work well. They have to stick their nose under the trigger and push it up to get to the bait... SNAP!

I've never missed a mouse with either of those two types of traps. The old style snap traps have gone into the trash.

Well, decided to give this a try. I've never been a huge fan of cats in the house, but I'd welcome all the cats you can send my way vs. rodents.

His name is Gene, and he's been home all of 5 minutes. As you can see, the dogs are a little........concerned, but nothing aggressive (even though it looks like the rottie is about to chomp him in one swift strike).

Not shown: The Golden Retriever who is as concerned and as interested as the rottie.......

That second one looks like a medieval device of rodent doom.

I approve.

I HATE living in the city! I'd trade for a country life anyday. theres way to much hustle in the city. Always gotta be doing something, everyone is so uptight. I hate it.

That and theres no gang problems out in the country..

Ever been caught in the crossfire of an Amish driveby? Not pretty.

clip-clop-clip-clop-clip-clop-clip-clop-clip-clop BANG! BANG! BANG! clip-clop-clip-clop-clip-clop-clip-clop...

Of course, there really was a guy here who rode around on downtown his bicycle, stopping occasionally to punch women. He actually lived right across the street from my old place, though he'd fled the state when the police showed up at his place to arrest him.
