The guys that mentioned "Hurt" by Johnny Cash and Nine Inch Nails are spot on. Taking a dark NIN song and make it darker is impressive. Only the man in black could do it....

I'll nominate "Whiskey in the Jar" by Metallica, Thin Lizzy, and probably a couple dozen Irish folk bands. The Metallica version is great.





Also, honorable mention goes to just about half the "Nativity in Black" Black Sabbath tribute album. Probably heresy to say it, but I like many of the covers as much or better than the originals. Symptom of the Universe, Children of the Grave, and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath come to mind. Yep, probably sacrilege to say such things.

That's just PERFECT. "Roundabout" by Yes never sounded that good!

I saw Yes live several times 1971-1976 and they definitely sounded that good and better, especially vocally.
Every musician on the stage was better.
