Allman Brothers Band-One Way Out.
Sonny Boy Williamson’s version is great but the Brothers took possession of that one.
I’ve found that the version I hear 1st and come to know and love in most cases is the preferred version to me. I’m sure I have exceptions but none immediately come to mind.

Firstly, I apologize for the somewhat awkward title. That's as short as I could make it.
I'm wondering, what are some less-common versions of popular songs that you like better than the most common or well-liked version?
My submission is One Way Out. The most common and well-loved version is of course by The Allman Brothers, which is the version I grew up on. However, the version I have come to prefer is the Elmore James version, although I am aware of others. While I love the Allman Brothers and their version is a classic, Elmore James' version is just more my style.
How about you? Are there less-known versions of songs you like better than the most well-known?

It's all over now Baby Blue. Didn't care for Dylans original version at all. Loved Thems version with Van Morrison.
In 1979, Mannfred Mann Earth Band covered "Don't Kill It, Carol" originally by Incredible String Band, and the result was incredible.
Streetheart's version of Under My Thumb (The Rolling Stones). KILLER bass solo at the end of the song.
I love hearing different versions of songs, so I've got a few to share. I'm not going to say which version I prefer, just because in most cases, I like both for there own reasons.

Love the Dean & Britta cover of I’ll Keep it With Mine, it’s pretty close to the Nico version arrangement-wise so it’s more like a cover of a cover...
Also, big fan of the Matthew Sweet & Susanna Hoffs Under the Covers albums. I think I prefer their version of All the Young Dudes (another cover of a cover!) to the original.
But, yeah, hard to beat Jimi’s All Along the Watchtower for a serious upgrade.
