Gotta disagree on that one, the original is one of my all-time top tunes. This is an honest effort, but better than the original? No way.
Molly Hatchet covered Allman Brothers "Dreams I'll Never See" and completely transformed it (in a good way, to me)....and I'm and Allman Brothers fan.

I've never heard this before. It is fantastic.
I'm sorry, but Molly Hatchet has nothing on the Allman Brothers.
I love covers that draw out the sort of profoundness of the song in a new way. Like Joe Cocker's version of "With A Little Help From My Friends," or Jeff Buckley's version of "Hallelujah." Or, um, The Cardigans' version of "Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath..."
I owe you a profound "thank you." Thank you for turning me on to The Cardigans. I just downloaded their entire discography. The are really THAT GOOD.
Ray Charles's versions of "I Can't Stop Loving You" and "Cryin' Time."
Don Gibson's "I Can't Stop Loving You"
Ray Charles's "I Can't Stop Loving You"
Buck Owens & the Buckaroos "Cryin' Time"
Ray Charles's "Cryin' Time"
I've always liked Carly Simon's "You Belong to Me" but I think Anita Baker took it to the moon. Are there any more examples where the cover was better than the original recording?
