Foghat’s version was horrible, they just bludgeoned the song, the Stones gave it the hyper Bo Diddley treatment, it was OK for what it was, but how does that one improve on Muddy Waters’ original? His was all sex and atmosphere.

Easy song to make good covers because Willie Dixon only wrote great songs.

Unless I missed them I didn't see this group posted. They usually take 2 songs at a time, mixing another song with an ABBA song. Have a bunch of their stuff on a playlist in my car and gotta turn them up. And I do like original ABBA alot.

The title of the thread is “covers better than the original”; if you’re going to make a statement about a particular version, shouldn’t you qualify why? Otherwise, this thread is pointless.

I agree, it's good to be able to articulate why than to just say.. because I like it better.
But in the end, it is just a matter of taste and there is no accounting for taste.
