Covers that really, REALLY suck

How about a black metal version of a classic outlaw country song, with harsh noise style mastering?

I just watched Springsteen and Grohl's London Calling. I honestly don't see what was so bad about it. Maybe more people should post more cringe worthy songs instead of songs they just don't like to see covered.

William Shatner doing Bohemian Rhapsody. Jesus, that was bad. I had to shut it off after 30 seconds at the most.

EXACTLY. What is the point of a recording group doing a cover if they're going to attempt to sound like another recording. I've already HEARD that version, so tell me something new. Otherwise, don't bother.

John

I agree, as long as some bands don't use this as an excuse for being mediocre. Like in the case of some mediocre band member saying "Oh, it doesn't sound like the original because we wanted to play it our way"... when it really just sounded lazy and unimaginative.

I dont have a recording of it, but my previous band wanted to do a cover for our female guitarist to sing.
The problem... she didnt choose the song herself, our bandleader/her brother did. We did Blondie's 'Dreaming', only we didnt do our own version of it, we did The Smashing Pumpkins version of it, and it lacked any semblance of a soul.
