Covid story from Sturgis

Well .... That story sounds "possible" from what I've seen out there.
Rode my scooter out to Sturgis twice 15+ years ago (from Ohio).
It truly is the wild wild WILD west. Mad gold rush money grab type of environment.
There are very good bands playing everywhere all day all night, not to mention all the headliners.
Lots of non head liner bands want to play there to add it to their resume.

Never heard of or heard the Ohio Cure tribute band .... so who's to say.

As far as the waitresses .... well. They draw women/girls from all over the country
to work 2+ weeks during the rally. Not one of them looked like Carla from "Cheers" or Flo from "Alice".
They do make big money but I suspect that a lot of that comes for the bar as salary.

Myself and cohorts went to breakfast one morning at a local downtown diner. (way before the hardcore were up).
Went in and ended up sitting in a booth next to Indian Larry! (RIP). His rat bike was out front.
That would have been cool enough until our waitress walks over.
5'9" blonde 20 something playboy material and her waitress "uniform" did NOT cover much.
- I know .... I never thought I'd be writing to Penthouse Forum - .....
As we finished up she came over and asked if any of us could give her a ride back
to Tennessee at the end of the week. She was just there for Sturgis and the money.
I thought about selling my bike and renting a winnebago!

$70k who knows, band got fired for no reason ... who knows.
Is it wild yes!
Should the City or State let it go on with Covid ... probably not.
There is just too damn much money flowing in for them to say no.

Thanks over and out.

I'd like to hear the bar owner's side of the story. Unless the guy is a complete jackass, there has to more to the story than the band member is telling us.

Dunno. Seems to me if you’re hosting a mass gathering despite the medical issue we’re dealing with right now, you already are a complete jackass. Stiffing a band is just a light dusting of sugar on the cake compared to that.

strongly consider 10 days self quarantine after a attending big super spreader event like that.

I'd go even father than that - participate if you want, but quarantine both before AND after the event. I'm sure if that was mandated, many people would rethink the "cost" of attending.

Reminds me of a time I travelled to Australia for one day of last minute classified meetings. 2 days travel outbound plus 2 days travel homebound. 40-50 hours in various aircraft all for basically 8 hours of meetings. That was my first trip to AUS - and I liked what I saw - but it was NOT worth it.
