I'm definitely considering another TR-4. The one in Austin is lovely. I was also thinking of having one made in the same whiteburst finish as this one
A rare thing in TB, but there is C.P. Thornton TR-4 in the Classifieds!

Hi Guys, The TR-4 that's in Austin is truly a great bass as a matter of fact there's a 1964 Jazz bass that has been put there on consignment because the owner wants to sell it and buy the TR-4. The translucent white/blonde like your 5 string would be beautiful Sam but getting Swamp Ash is almost impossible right now. I hope you all are getting through this strange time and coming out of it stronger than ever.
Thanks Chuck! As it turns out I sold two Fenders and my Les Paul so I may end up keeping the 5er. I got my eye on that TR-4 though. It's a lovely bass. I get a wonderful warm buttery tone out of mine with the Nootka Cedar, I would love to hear what the swamp ash sounds with the same configuration!
So, did you buy that Swamp Ash TR-4?
It's been very quiet around here, but I do understand.
I'm doing good and my CP Thornton basses are still hanging around and in my practice selection rotation!!
I hope you guys are all doing well and are as tired as I am of the way things currently are.

Nice demo video. Being from Vermont we are allowed in Maine. Other states have been restricted from travel to Maine.
So on the 9/18 the better half and I got to visit with Chuck and family for a social visit.
Fortunately I got there before Chuck sent off his latest batch of instruments.
Great visit we had a blast. Drool factor was at Devcon 4 level. I had hands on with two particular instruments that
really just talked to me. This batch is mostly sold so the temptation was reduced.
Always superb craftsman ship, play-ability and tones all awesome.

I have a client with two of my TR-5's that is talking about having me build him a fretless and another client talking about a TR-4 so I'll start getting my woods together shortly. In case anyone is looking for a TR5, there is one for sale in Guitar Centers used bass section that needs a good home. I think it's B-036 if I'm reading it correctly. It's hard to read in the photo.

That's a pretty Placid Blue CP Thornton TR-5!! An excellent price for a 2020 build, too!! The serial number seems a bit odd since I have #37 that was built in early 2019, but a beautiful bass none the less.

I'll be joining the club soon. I always make the rounds at Reverb, Talkbass, Guitar Center keeping my eyes peeled for used basses that I'm interested in.
I was able to score a TR4 style with a set neck, serial number B-008.
Hoping to have it soon. I'll get some photos up once it arrives.

That body shape is screaming to be a headless bass. Just saying. Would be lovely.
