CRAAAAP, another taken band name

Alright so after playing by myself without a band for years and getting to my skill level I all of a sudden thought of a unique band name that I was surprised and thought no one had taken at first. The name was Noise. Weird enough, our vocalist thought of it before I met him so it even felt like fate to choose the name.

I looked it up countless times and found no one, not even in the 70s, 80s, nor 90s took the name. Although later I recently found a band from the UK named it from the 90s. Different country so I thought it'd be alright since they put Noise UK in their name.

However I just found another band named Noi!se and they are alive and active, on Facebook, put out records, have a label, and they are a street punk band. I want to use the name because it describes us exceptionally well as our sound ranges from bad ass riffs, hard rock, punk, metal, even got a hard rock into reggae instrumental going, and whatever else we can come up with and I got a lot of other guitar pieces in the vault.

They are from Tacoma WA and we're from Savannah GA pretty much just starting out. We should probably change the name but I really love the name. Just upset someone had actually thought of it after doing countless searches founding nothing and now to come to find with a ! in their name =/. Haven't even found their domain website but if they got a label, they got to be trademarked. www.noise.com isn't even registered

Hey consider checking if " CRAAAAP " is available who knows it mite not be taken!! Noise / CRAAAAP? !" No difference! "( just a diferent name.) Nice loop hole!
good luck on search..

Yeah but do you really want to be the guy playing a local bar show and saying into the mic at the end of your set, "Thanks for coming, we are Noise, find us on facebook... uh... that's Noise with a Y... and uh.. no E at the end... oh and yeah a Z (*looks at drummer for confirmation) yeah a Z, no two Z's... yeah, got all that. Follow us on facebook. Goodnight!"
Never been an issue for us. Easily solved by handing out some free stickers actually.

Contact them.
Ask them if they are trademarked and see the proof.
Explain your story, you might find they could care less.
Even if they don't care, will you be happy getting all their fan traffic? There is a piano player in NYC who took the name "myname".com pretty much as soon as the internet came out. Even if he retired and gave me the domain, I wouldn't want it as it's been associated with him for way too long and I don't want his followers, his spam, etc....

Pretty much every single name has been taken, probably trademarked, .com'd, etc. Try a unique phrase, obscure literary/cultural reference or play-on-words instead. The Beatles were one of the first great play-on-words band names.

If you're going to use a generic word for your band name, it has already been taken by a hundred other bands across the world, and you're going to have a hard time anyone ever finding your band on a whim.

An example is Katzenjammer. There are at least six bands using that name now, (one has had it since the early eighties) and two of the current bands with that name are internationally famous. Even *clever* names with more than one word, such as Hit List, Final Notice, Private Parts, etc. are bound to be in use. With the Internet it's easy to find out if a name is in use. Back in the old days we wouldn't know until someone came in and said "Oh, we though you were the other band named Miami Mice". :(

What I want you to grasp here is that this is a severely abridged list. There are four to five times this many names. And as bad as some of the ones I posted are, these are the good ones. I have kept the notebook because it has other things in it that are actually useful to me. But every once in a while I remember that, elsewhere in that notebook is THE LIST .

Enjoy.
