Not my take on it. They are exquisitely made and finished basses with excellent electronics, finishes, wood selection, and setups. But part of the price over a Fender is that they are made in smaller batches with more handiwork, attention to detail, and customer service is much more personal, etc.
Fenders are also excellent, but less consistent, and I prefer them due to the sound (I like traditional passive Ps and Js for the most part, just my taste and the music I play).
Some of us are simply arguing that this is something that can happen if you expect extremely tight neck pockets on Fender style bolt-ons.
Whether it is important to the OP is personal, though he seems to want a consensus where none can exist. Personally I don't mind small finish flaws if they are hidden, but I can fully understand those that do. But you won't convince me this is a sign of a lack of overall quality, based on my past experiences.
