Quite frankly, you're not a working band if your members aren't allowed to be in other bands. If I'm a working musician, I'm not supporting myself on one band unless those gigs pay UNBELIEVABLY well.
Based on the ad I'd say they're a bunch of wannabees who don't know poopie.

It's a subtle point. I have no problem discussing politics, for example, but discussing politics is against forum rules. As I said, from my perspective, numerous posts in this thread have skirted or outright broken forum rules.

I guess what I meant is laziness and it's SO evident today. A clear example is politics. People align themselves with a party or ideology and just get in lock step and stop looking into the actual issues (assuming they ever did look into them).

I do believe that the general laziness (it is very interesting to ask specifics about things that people rant on..a lot of them get quiet really quick!) does partly stem from the identity issue I mentioned. A lot of people are very comfortable with the persona they maintain and see things outside of it as threatening in some way. There are also a lot of lazy people who couldn't be bothered to open up a dialectic (I'm totally with you there!)

I'm going to use a physical example of how people use identity...

I am going out to a dance club...my attire - nice pants, button down shirt, nice shoes, etc...
I am going to a rock club...my attire - Everytime I Die T shirt, whatever pants, whatever sneakers/boots
I am going to work...my attire - none j/k

I do this for numerous reasons, but mostly because I want to go out and be a part of the experience...I do not want to be the experience. I'm not trying to impose my will on the surroundings...I'm happy to let the surroundings dictate my identity and in doing so I can learn and experience so much more: because I look like I fit in people will be more open in their interactions with me for better or for worse (always better eventually). I want to know what people say behind closed doors and understand why...this is how we learn who we are and understand our own self. As they used to say...Walk a day in another one's shoes...

I love shoes.
