Pretty sure the obvious similarity of Kevin DuBrow/Noddy Holder voices/tone doomed QR to Slade hit re-appropriation, at least in the eyes of their record label.

Slade was so much fun! So loud, my ears rang for days after I saw them back in '76 or so. They never took themselves too seriously, and yes they were a big influence on me as a young person.
Jimmy Lea was a talented songwriter, bassist and violinist, great playing and tone from his Gibson EB-3 on this song.....
Janis Joplin had nothing on this.

yes Slade is truly cringe worthy … they were ok musically but visually very hard to watch … it was that period in the 70s when glam rock was hideous
7 seconds in, the guitarist on the right smacks the ceiling very hard with his peghead. Hope it wasn't an expensive axe.
I, on the other hand, had no idea there was a band in the US in the 80's doing (pointless??) Slade covers...
Slade were pretty much 'part of the furniture' in the UK during the early '70's. If you haven't heard 'Slade Alive' from 1972, check it out:

Slade had it all...except mass-appeal aesthetics. One butt-ugly band IMHO.
Many of their songs have been hits for other bands. I think the most recent example (just a few years ago) was Cheap Trick's cover of "When The Lights Are Out."

Funny, I was just thinking about Slade this afternoon. I really dug the whole Metal Nun thing, and Noddy Holder's hat.
QR also used to cover Glad All Over by the Dave Clark Five.

I liked Quiet Riot. Good players, especially my man Rudy Sarzo on bass! Didn't care where they got the songs from, I liked that 80s pop metal sound.

Saw them at Asbury Park Convention Hall in '75. Every show in those days at that venue would make your ears bleed.
Slade! My first LP was Slade Alive. They were quite ahead of their time.
I watched Slade being booed off the stage, one night when they were opening for ZZ Top in Waterbury, CT.

why would ANYONE think that they wrote it? That cover is a footnote and even name-checks Stevie in it.
Okay, well ... when you said "Higher Ground - Stevie Wonder" it did not immediately occur to me that you were referring to the RHCP version, which of course *is* a cover.
