Curious - Basses & Cars from TB'ers - Any Correlation?

Here is a throwback photo from 1998. The Sting Ray is a 1976 and the car is from 1977. Still have the car.

This was my Main bass at the time (still have the bass)

I guess there is a bit of a sub-conscious correlation...the bass sounds as powerful as that car was.

Again, can't resist, and again - apologies to those who have seen this previously. Here is the 1929 Ford Model A I inherited from my father and restored in his and my uncle's honor. She is "Bernadine" and has been featured in Car Kulture Deluxe magazine and Pinups and Kustoms in Sweden. She has also won the top of her class trophies in four car shows, one in Indiana and three in New York - all with 200 to 400 cars on display.

I also sent my MIJ PBass to my builder in indiana and had him spray it Hot Rod Flatz black which is on the car, and then I had the same elderly "old school" pinstriper stripe it to match the car.

I drive 700 miles a week for work. i get to frequent every music store in CT with regularity as a plus. I need a car that lasts 200,000 miles and is comfortable and can haul stuff....needs to be all wheel drive as I live in the foothills of the Berkshires.....BMW X3.....Alembic Essence is my main bass. Quality rules.

Not a car guy. Can afford a nice car, but I drive a piece of junk that I can maim with gear hitting the inside doors, scratching the interior, stuff on the roof -- I'm totally utilitarian about transportation -- minimize spending on it as much as possible, and that means driving good, reliable cars until they are unfit for the road. I clean it only when I can't stand how messy it is, so the time can be invested in sucking the marrow out of life.

Love basses though -- I have many of them, and prefer green ones.

My truck is a scuffed and dented workhorse, covered in stickers and put to hard use every day, but it has never needed more than oil, brake pads and tires for over 100,000 miles. It is ready to rock every time I need it.

Just like my basses.

2010 F150 4x4 for me.

Had it since new and it is amazing for music gear, long drives, hauling snowboards and hockey equipment and taking luggage for 5 to the airport when travelling.

I used to be into expensive cars, but realized I was only impressing myself. To each their own for sure, but just not my thing any longer.

Morning all,

We definitely are a small number of people who appreciate our basses, and our passion for these instruments reflect on some of the posts we have on TB (there are a lot of people that have no clue what some of our instruments are or their features, wood combination, etc). I am just curious to know if there's any correlation between the type of instrument, brand, color we prefer / use in comparison to the cars we drive / like. I am sure it would be a smaller number of TB'ers who also are car lovers but I know there are some bass and car lovers on TB. Again, this post will only make sense for car lovers on TB, there's no other reason to post this other to get some feedback from the group.

Any thoughts or am I just way off?!

I like cars as much as the next guy but I'm not crazy into cars. Never spent more than 30k on a car and most of my vehicles have been trucks and vans in order haul music gear. If I had 50 grand to blow on any vehicle it would be a fully loaded 4x4 tacoma. Because fast cars are overrated do to speed limits but off roading is fun also. I built a 72 vw super beetle for drag racing 1/8th mile haven't raced since before my kids were born. But yeah I've actually bought a few vehicles for less money than the more expensive basses I've owned.

Thanks again for the kind words neckdive, but i have seen MANY car/bass duos on here that are at least as impressive if not more so, and no, I am not being humble.....It's the absolute truth!

I drive a "hot hatch" (focus ST) and have owned performance oriented cars mostly (wrx, RX-8, svt focus, supra, miata). I tend to prefer "all go and little show". I used to track them.

I guess my basses reflect that- Spector euro4, mid 80s JBS, lakland skyline 44-64sc, 85 SB-1.

Then of course there's the heavily missed jazz...

My daily driver is a '97 Ford F-250 that also doubles as a farm truck. I've always preferred driving a pickup truck.

I just bought a Lakland 55-14 that will likely become my main player (sorry, no pics yet).

Not sure if there's any correlation. ???

I am a car guy, yet I don't technically own a car myself, which leaves me a little $$ for buying gear or (very soon) funding college tuitions.

I work for a car company, so in a sense, I guess I would fit the role of an endorsed artist, since I drive whatever car I am assigned for 4-6 months at a time. Current ride is a 2015 GMC Acadia Denali. GREAT for hauling gear and roadies.

My wife drove 2012 Volt until our lease was up about a month ago. Waiting for the 2016 Volt to come out in a few months before we replace it.

If I were to purchase a car now, it would be either a Corvette Stingray, a Corvette Z06, or Cadillac CTS-V. Fits with my choices in basses...very stylish, very pricey, a lot of options, and waaay more power than I would ever legitimately need.

Probably missed a couple. Still own the last three on the list.

What connection these have to a Fender bass, I have no idea.
