Custom 5 string for Rudy

Disregard the post below, appearently the situation has been resolved.

As a courtesy, Wilser asked me to pass along that he's been banned from TB.
So, unfortunately, the final pictures of Rudy's bass will not get posted.

It would be inappropriate for me comment on the circumstances.
I'm simply passing along the above information, so please don't PM me to comment or to inquire about what happened.

This is all I will comment:
I'm sure I speak for many, many folks, when I say I hope the situation can be resolved.

What's up with that?!

MODS: If there is anything we can do for Wilser to bring him back to TB...please let us know! I am sure this must be some type of misunderstanding! Please help us! (Or help me, anyway...:(

On a side note: There is no "sticky" on infractions, being banned, or anything similar that I could find on TB. I only found the "rules" and FAQ's. Nothing specific is noted anywhere about infractions.

Looks near perfect from what I can tell Will,(where is my magnifying glass??);):p It sounds very nice too. :D

What do you think of your stacked buckers? FWIW my first set sounded much different than what I thought they would. I noticed more mid attack and a bit more definition. I was just assuming the sound would be similar to a single coil with less noise but it turned out I was wrong, I like the sound of them better than a single. Just wondering what you think of yours.

Thanks, be sure to point out ANYTHING that bugs you! only by constructive criticism can we get any better! I concur with your findings about the stacked. I, on the other hand, was not expecting them to sound single coil like, but rather like a dual coil with less, how should I say it, 'range'? more focused. It did sound more focused but with less highs than either the single coil or dual coils, which was a bit surprising. A good sound but in a different way. Definitely not the sound you would want to play like Steve Harris or Frankie Bello.

My favorite of your designs, Wilser.
Awesome to see it come to life.
Now that you resolved the "ribbon stuff" hanger issue:rolleyes:, its hard to to find fault in the execution (at least on the pictures).
You'll have to clue us in as to the imperfections.

Question:
Why the battery in the main control cavity this time?
Personally I prefer this.
IMO, the cleaner look trumps the minor extra time it takes to remove two more screws.

why thanks! I usually don't do a separate battery cavity unless specifically asked to by the customer. There are a couple of the fret slot ends that didn't fill completely, an area on the lower cutaway that I didn't fill the grain properly on, I ran out of black strap pin pads, one of the pickups is not fully 90deg from the centerline (though I can't frigging tell which one, I just see them offset), the fingerboard should have been thinner as being so thick makes the neck overall feel a hair thicker than I wished, there was a little dust particle that settled in the finish early in the spraying process but I didn't notice until I buffed the darn thing (you can see it on the treble side of the volute), the serial number stamping is not fully aligned, the decal on the back didn't fully dissolve into the finish so from a certain angle you can see the edges, I wish the neck would have had more birdseye figure reaching the body. Those are my gripes. But overall, the bass looks ok, feels great, plays amazing and sounds pretty darn good.

Second of all... another AMAZING build...

As far as constructive criticism, the only thing I can say is, I don't like the way there is a haze around the "custom made" logo on the back of the head stock appears. It looks like it was a bit thinner in the finish at that spot. I may be looking at it wrong though...

But it does look and sound unbelievable...

no, that's not the cause, it's because the waterbased finish didn't melt with the solvent based acrylic used for the decal. In the future, I would have to apply a few coats of the solvent based acrylic over the decal before going with the waterbased.
