why thanks! I usually don't do a separate battery cavity unless specifically asked to by the customer. There are a couple of the fret slot ends that didn't fill completely, an area on the lower cutaway that I didn't fill the grain properly on, I ran out of black strap pin pads, one of the pickups is not fully 90deg from the centerline (though I can't frigging tell which one, I just see them offset), the fingerboard should have been thinner as being so thick makes the neck overall feel a hair thicker than I wished, there was a little dust particle that settled in the finish early in the spraying process but I didn't notice until I buffed the darn thing (you can see it on the treble side of the volute), the serial number stamping is not fully aligned, the decal on the back didn't fully dissolve into the finish so from a certain angle you can see the edges, I wish the neck would have had more birdseye figure reaching the body. Those are my gripes. But overall, the bass looks ok, feels great, plays amazing and sounds pretty darn good.

I think for the most part those are just things the builder would notice, especially a builder striving to be perfect. I didn't notice the pickup not being perfectly aligned until reading Wils post. (A common problem for me too!) I noticed the "cloudiness" around the decal but honestly I thought it was the wood, and that the writing was hand wrote. I've had the same thing happen to me on the decals, I hate them with a passion. For every one I put on it takes about 3-4 to get trashed before I get one that I'm only half way satisfied with. Dust and finish imperfections are going to always cause a "home" builder problems, unless he has a suitable area to spray, and do nothing else there but spray.

Time to be honest! If I had the money, and if Wilsers waiting list wasn't two years down the road;) He would be getting a deposit from me in a heartbeat! Little imperfections like that are what make the basses HUMAN, and full of character.

Funny you should mention that scotty... I almost put my deposit in yesterday too. I'm usually REALLY cheap when it comes to instruments and art because I feel like I can make it myself. But every once in a while I have to invest in what is a great quality instrument. If I hadn't just bought a new bongo last month I would be ordering a Ramirez now...

Maybe next year... I can dream.

Hey guys! :)

Just wanted to drop in and mention that no matter what the imperfections...I'm sure everything will be fine.... :D

Wilser does strive for perfection, and as Scott mentioned, these are things any good builder will notice.

I'll be happy to post a review when I get the bass... Wilser and I spoke for the first time yesterday, and he did tell me to be picky and point out what I don't like. I am sure that there are more pros than cons so much that I would order another Ramirez with my eyes closed!

That being said....anyone have a winning lottery ticket so I can buy my way to the front of the line at Wilser's shop??? :D

P.S. Shucks...I like Steve Harris' playing. Oh well...I guess I'll have to shoot for improving my *snap, crackle, and POP!...less crackle though since that muds up the sound a bit...

Hey Rudy, like I asked you yesterday don't be shy and let me know any small issue and anything that's a big enough issue for you and I'll make it right. I want you to be happy with your bass and WANT to play it.

That said, you should also NOT be shy because part of the contract is that you have to supply a photo of you with your bass (posing or live, doesn't matter) and that will get published on my website. ;)

Aesthetically, the only imperfections I was able to see so far is the back of the bass (body) where it appears there is a stain on the wood. I don't know if that's my poor vision or if it the coating that caused that. Other than that..the decal is noticeably different as Scott pointed out. I'll see about the rest when I get it... :D

First of all thank you Wilser! The bass is awesome! :D

I just gave it a test drive in the music store on my way home from work.

I will be playing it for the first time on stage in a concert with Luis Enrique on Saturday night. :hyper::hyper::hyper:

SO..I will post a review on TB after that. I'll post the review under the Basses section of TB!
