Are there any custom basses that are being offered under 2k and are good quality instruments. I'm wanting a custom built bass, but not looking to spend over $2k

Check the luthiers corner and PM them. I found a few builders on there in sub $2k range that I am having/have had build me a bass.

    Peace,
    Chris

If you want a bolt-on you could always build it yourself; that's what I Plan on doing for my next J-bass, whenever that is.

  4. yeah you can build it yourself(if you have the tools) or you can go to the luthier corner.
(making myself a 4,a 5 or a 6 string this summer and it'll cost me 500-650$ so it's no big deal)

Tom Clement, clementbass.com, makes great custom basses in your price range. I have a fretless he made and I love it. The quality and workmanship are all top-notch.:bassist:

He's also a great guy to work with and is very good at communication which is always important. I can't recommend him highly enough!

Hi DFW Bass. I just wanted to second the recommendation on a Tom Clement built bass. Tom has built me 4 of his basses and each one is special in it's own right. He is a fantastic guy to work with, will take the time to listen to your needs and is probably the best communicator of any builder I have experienced. With a budget of 2K or less you should be able to get a killer bass and have some of that budget left over (maybe to put towards a second Clement bass). Go to his website and check him out. Good luck with the quest.Peace. JoeP

  7. Chris Stambaugh might do one for juuust under a grand- but it would be worth far more, IMO. I have two custom sixes by him that barely exceeded 2G each & LOVE LOVE LOVE them. A lot. :)

It is possible to get a custom Valenti or FBB for well under $2K if you don't go nuts with expensive upgrade features.

So far I think he's one of the best below 2k+. Althought I can't say from experience yet, I would recomend him from what I've seen and read.
