The luthier is Ales Vychodil from AV Basses, very nice and talented guy.

Haven't played it yet but originally it was atleast designed so that also uper frets should be quite easily accessed. And the luthier, of course, said that so they are. We'll see, can't wait.

It depends on the harshell case, so as soon as he gets it, he'll ship the bass. Hopefully it'll be in my hands at the end of next week

I knew this thread existed. I posted this in a seperate thread last night but I meant to post it here. Thanks to pointbass for pointing me in the right direction. Anyway, I Just pulled the trigger on my first custom. It's going to be built by luthier Charles Scroggins in Tampa, Florida. He is the Tech at the Guitar Center in Clearwater, Florida and his repair/luthier work is top notch. I designed my own concept based on a Nordstrand SC, the Raging Bass from Alembic's Custom Archive, and Justin Chancellor's Wal. So far the specs are:

4 string Singlecut
35" scale
Black Hardware
Mahagony body
Bloodwood accents between the body and top/back
Birdseye Maple top and back
Neck through
Multilaminate Flame maple/bloodwood/ebony neck
Bloodwood fretboard with maple binding
2 Q-tuner pickups
East ACG preamp

how do u find intonation right up high on that? is it being unlined a problem?

This is my first fretless so i'm still learning, but there is no problems with intonation. I haven't actually really even tried more than first 24 fret positions (ok, i've tried but not really played). And the side dots help alot (yes i know it's cheating but since this is my first fretless i needed something to be sure ) So i don't think it will be a problem.

cool beans man. i dont know whether i want mine lined or not yet, i love the look of unlined boards but i'd hate to have a bass i couldnt play properly just for the sake of a few lines!!

That's what your ears are for! Even lines aren't exactly in tune.
