Custom Bass Wait Support Group Needed [Part 3]

my Bilodeau bass is getting closer by the day, starting to feel like christmas time.. I really give him credit for finding the perfect cocobolo top for this.

Top looks great, but... is that a control cavity on the top?

Alright I just ordered a Valenti Jazz 5'er. It's gonna be a long 6 months before this bad boy's ready to go so I need some support.

Here's the specs:

> Swamp Ash Body
> Trans Green Gloss Finish
> Birdseye maple neck w/Birdseye maple fretboard
> 1 7/8" @ nut
> 12" Fretboard Radius
> Graphite Reinforced neck
> EMG 40J pickups
> Aguilar OBP-3 preamp 18V
> Black Hardware
> Hipshot B Style Bridge
> 19mm String Spacing
> Hipshot Ultralites Tuners
> StrapLocks
> Contoured heel for easier access to the upper frets
> Hardshell case

That's me back in, with Shuker number 2...

I've just done gone and put down the deposit on my next Shuker Bass.
I wanted something a lot more understated than my lovely 6 string Single Cut and something that can provide a very different sonic palette.
My 6 string does modern, massive and aggressive very well, but I can't really get a nice traditional Jazz Bass tone.
Also in my band, I'm not really using all 6 strings to their full extent so could get away with a 4 string with occasional detuning of the E string to D.
I've gone for the 33" scale again too, as weirdly, 34" basses feel a bit big now!

Anyway, here goes with the spec...

4 string J Bass

NECK >>
33" scale
5 piece mahogany/wenge laminated neck
Slim profile, just like a regular Jazz Bass
Rosewood board
22 Medium frets
Two way truss rod
Carbon fibre reinforcement
White side dots only
Maple headstock veneer, sprayed black
Brass nut
Satin finish on neck (gloss headstock)
Shuker version of Fender style headstock i.e. 4 in line
String tree (possibly a bar one across all 4 strings to keep consistent break angle on all 4 strings)

BODY >>
Downsized J Bass shape (like Mike's recent J Bass)
Black walnut body
Polyester base coat
Black polyurethane wet look gloss
Slab finish (with slight radius on top but larger radius on rear)
Rear Routed as the body won't have a scratch plate or a control plate
Control layout yet to be determined

GUBBINS >>
Black hardware
Individual bridge units
Standard Shuker Gotoh GB7 tuners (4 in line)
Sadowsky Style knobs (if we can get hold of them)
Side mounted jack
EMG JV pickups and electronics vol /vol /tone

Let the waiting begin....

Eude

First time lookin at this thread. You guys have some beautifull lookin basses on order. I'm really diggin that ACG incognito. I have about a 4-5 month wait for my Sadowsky Metro to be done. Its nothing near as fancy as some of the basses here but here's the specs:

Sadowsky Metro Hybrid Precision
Alder body / Maple neck with Morado Fingerboard
Sonic Blue / White pickguard
and of course the Sadowsky Pickup, Preamp, 12" fingerboard radius, 21 Frets etc.

Can't wait and I'm totally pumped!

Nothing too fancy from me but I am glad to have found a place where everyone is writhing in agony whilst their bass is being crafted. Ordered a Birdsong Hy5w...may take a year to be completed, ugh.

31" scale - 24 fret - 2 pickup (EMZ, Kent Armstrong) - 5 string
17mm string spacing
Black Hipshot Hardware
Blackwashed African Mahogany
Rosewood knobs, Ebony nut

Again nothing too exotic but I am excited about it, should look something like this....

Suweet man, I'm in your boat with a Lull.

Argh, all you people with build pics are so lucky... I probably won't hear a word from Carl until the day he ships my bass(es). Still, best to let the master do his work, I guess. I'm just so damn nosy. I'm really glad I didn't go full bore fancy on my first CT, I couldn't have waited three years. The first month's been killer, and there's five or six more to go...:crying:
