SWEET!!!!!!

I bet you're stoked! What's the sound like??? I'd like to hear some sound clips!

Wilser,
Waiting for a project from afar can be a challenge.
However, I’m guessing when it’s right there in the shop, teasing, within reach,
the wait to finish your own project would be even worse!

All the elements together really hit the mark.
As with your other basses, this one's a heart-pounding piece of art, congrats!

Speaking of raising the pulse; (good segue huh?;))
This is what Wilser has done so far on my fretless 7

Next from Wilser- Rudyboy98's "Bubinga Beaty",
Then mine is line to get out the door!

Cool bass !!

What do all the controls do Wilser ??

Thanks guys, you are all way too kind. The bass has my custom pickup and an Audere 3ZB customized with passive tone on my shop with the help of David Meadows (email consulting, David has the best customer service in the WORLD!). The controls are:

knobs (top to bottom)
volume
passive tone
treble
mid
bass

switches (from the output jack)
3ZB LED battery indicator
active/passive (passive tone still works on active or passive mode)
mid frequency select
Zmode

Here's a soundclip, all flat, forgive the out of tune melodies ...I haven't played fretless in a while and recorded this quickly to show off the sound.

Wilser,

That Bass came out amazing!!

Very Scott French-like shape, I love it.

What do you have on the fingerboard, epoxy? What do you suggest to put on a FB, should someone want to go that route?

Thanks! Scott French was not an influence at all, the shape was mostly designed by my wife (she tweaked and tweaked my original design, which was influenced by the jazz archtop guitar shapes, until it didn't resemble the original at all), but I'll take the SF reference as a compliment since I've always admired his amazing work.

It's got target coatings super clear 9000 polyurethane. It's the first time I'm using it and the bass was just strung up yesterday so I can't say how well it'll hold, but I was assured by the manufacturer (Jeff Weiss, owner) that it should hold up as well as marine epoxy, and the SC9000 is a lot easier to apply (just spray it with the rest of the body)

Brian Ristola is buiding me my dream 6-string bass.

Here are it's specs:

Alder body with a figured bubinga top. 35" scale. Maple/purpleheart neck with inlaid graphite stiffening bars, bone nut, and a bird's eye maple fingerboard. 2 Bartolini quad coil pickups and an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp. Ebony knobs. Black Hipshot A-style bridge and Ultralite tuning gears. Schaller straplocks.

My bass will look similar to this bass from the Gallery Section of Brian's website:

This is the bubinga that will be used for it's top wood:

I'm thinking it will be ready this September! :bassist:
