My new CODB is almost done!

There are no knobs on it on these pics, but they are there now and are sunken a bit in the body... Drool... The only thing that has to be done now is the electronics and the frets, and the finish. Yum yum yum!!!

My baby is coming along! My builder asked for some creative freedom to really lay out the neck. Of course I said yeah and this is the result! Man I'm drooling!

Here are the neck specs: Bubinga, yellowheart and birdseye maple. Some wenge for the thin accent lines. The diagonal strip around the 12th fret is the yellow heart. 'Board itself is ziricote. It will be a seven string 35"
Here are some pics!

I guess you could add me to this club. I'm ready but my new bass isn't. :p

Ordered in mid-July (5-6 month build time), and not due for a couple months. My first ever custom bass. The only bass I've ever ordered:

Sadowsky Will Lee
Maple Burl over Swamp Ash
'59 burst
Birdseye FB, vintage tint.

It should end up looking a lot like this:

Can't wait! :hyper:

thats too nice to leave the house!!!!!

Man, always killer stuff on this thread!
Haven't had anything to show for some time (the Ramirez 2/6 12ver).
Wilser's been doing doubles on his day gig for quite a while, so progress has been delayed.

However, the custom chassis for the bridge is finished.
Wilser commisioned Bruce Johnson of "Johnson's Extremely Strange Musical Instrument Company".
He reproduces those old ampeg scroll basses, including the hardware.(You should read his bio,an amazing background!)

Anyhow, he took my less-than-perfect "blueprint" - -

I'm still in, it was supposed to be ready a while ago.
Always the same when you order a custom bass, you quoted 3 months but it takes 6 months to built!

I'm patient, so it no problem.

Oh, and clips of the bass please pointbass!

I have a live clip posted in the new Barker club thread (post # 5 or 6) that I'm not too happy with .... the recording quality is really crappy, but at least you get a flavor of the bass. As I get additional stuff recorded it'll be posted in that thread

Great bass, thrilled with it ....

Just ordered my second Daniel Fernandez bass from Brian @ the LowEnd. A 5 string headless, fretless. Fortunately I won't have to wait ultra long as he is building it for the January NAMM show so right after that, she's mine. Now I won't have to pull the frets out of my 6 string. That should make Daniel happy that I'm not butchering his work.

Another update on my ACG Recurve 6. The headstock is now finished. Still some major work left (fretwork, attaching the neck, pickup routing, finish, installing the electronics) but now that I can really see how it's shaping up I'm super excited.

The Camphor obviously isn't wet down in this picture. The actual color of the body (after finish) will look more like this:

That ACG is gonna be fantastic! I love the simple elegance of the single cut design. Beautiful topwood too! One of these day, when I work up to a sixer, ACG is going to be at the top of my list for consideration.

Thanks. I am incredibly happy with the way it is coming out. Between the multitude of interesting top woods and the stabilized fingerboards he has at his disposal, there are some crazy combinations of woods available for ACGs.

But my favorites of Alans basses are the ones that are a bit more understated.

This one that he just finished looks amazing to me. From the ACG build thread:

Next one out the door.
Claro Walnut top and back with a Black Walnut core and 4 mm Sycamore accents.
Bubinga/Wenge 5 piece neck with an Acrylic Impregnated BlackEbony board.
Hipshot Type A with piezo and an ACG RFB feeding into the ACG EQ01 pre-amp. Body has an oil finish neck a satin lacquer.

And I love the "Lazerus" bass:
