while I took myself off the group's active roster for a bit (thanks, Fred, for my beautiful new Bee!), I'm back on big time!

my new Conklin should be completed in the coming weeks.

I just put in an order for a Nordstrand vJ5 (okay, not truly custom but still bad@$$!).

my fretless Huff is slated for completion after NAMM.

and I put in my deposit for my Adler 10 this week!

:D

Geez, man. Sounds like you won the lottery or something! Congrats :D

yep, an Adler. Mike and I have been friends for years and we've always talked about me getting one of his axes.

Damn Stew!!

Those sound great, I'm especially interested in seeing how the huff and the VJ5 turn out.
me, too, Jake! luckily both Carey and Darrin will be at NAMM so they'll both have to deal with my goofy face every day for 4 days (a bit more in Carey's case... :D). can't think of a better reminder for someone, can you?

wow Stew, what are the specs on all 4?
all of 'em? really, Jai? okay, here's the quick and dirty...

Conklin = a fretted, Bolt-on sidewinder 8 with a single Fat Stack in it

Nordstrand = a fretted, ash/maple vJ5 with a clear gloss finish

Huff = a fretless bolt-on 8

Adler = a fretted, neck-through 10

whew! I'm winded all of a sudden! were you looking for more details than than, brother? 'cause you know I'm happy to talk about my future basses in *GREAT* detail!

:D

hope everyone's having a killer weekend!

stay well and keep it deep,

Stew

wow... you have some killer axes on the way... please keep me informed about them... Are our Nordy's vJ5's gonna be cousins (different batches) or siblings (from same batch)? :smug:

I want to know more about the Huff. Because I haven't seen any new Huffs being built forever! And his stuff is just so cool. :cool:
well, it'll have a swamp ash body, maple neck, walnut top and an unlined ebony 'board. we're throwing a single MM-style humbucker into it.

we haven't really decided on the body shape yet but it won't go into production for a while yet so there's no great rush on that.

his stuff is totally cool, I agree! :D

I think they might actually be sibs, man, but I'm not totally sure. I try not to bug Carey and Chris too much about instrument production questions as they deal with those questions all day long.

I'll let you know as soon as I know! ;)

Hi guys:

My ReCurve from AC Guitars in Scotland has been finished and assembled! Now all I have to do is wait while it sits for a week to ensure it doesn't shift too much and then again until it's delivered from Scotland to Canada. That wait is gonna kill me.

Here are the specs again quickly:

Top/Back Wood: Camphor Burl
Body Wood: Black Limba
Neck Woods: Black Limba & Maple
Fingerboard: Acrylicized Quilt Maple
Wood Accents: Ebonized Maple
Pickups: proprietary AC Guitars Humbuckers
Pre-Amp: proprietary AC Guitars Filter-Based pre-amp (by John East)
Hardware: black Hipshot Ultra-Lite

Here are the photos:

I'll get you a review once it's been here for a week or so and I've had a chance to get familiar with it!!!

I hear ya... y'all are probably sick of hearing from me by now... :smug:

So, just a clear coat, no color stain?

LOL

man, I never get tired of hearing from my friends!

and yes, clear. I've seen some colors I like (trans blue with a maple board is gorgeous, eg) but there's something about being able to see the grain in non-exotic wood species that I dig. I think it comes from the pic of Jaco on the back of the Invitation LP. I fell in love with that axe and have wanted to own something similar ever since.
