Custom Hanewinckel Bass Progress Pics

I'm not subbed, but man that bass is looking slick! It's really coming together.

Thanks a lot!

I really dig that, Brian.

Thanks. Your Skjold is lookin' great too! :bassist:

That is looking sweet! If you don't already have a Hane, I think you are going to be very pleased with the bass. Pete makes the most wonderful sounding and playing instruments.

Now, you've got me considering getting a third Hane!

Thanks a lot! :D

I'm sure I will be pleased. I've talked to Pete in the past, but I was never able to order a bass until this year. His prices are very fair too.

Be sure to post progress pics of your third Hane! :D ;) :p :bassist:

:help:

The bass is looking very nice Man, I love the quater sawn top. Remember I want to check it out once you gets it :hyper:

What type of finish will it get?

Yeah, I think Pete used all quarter sawn pieces iirc. I will definitely let you know when I get it! :bassist:

It's getting an oil finish. Pete explained how he does it, and I think there will be 5 or 6 coats before it's done. I have his e-mail at work that explains the finishing if you want more details...

Here's a better explanation of how the controls work.

This is the inside two coils; switch up and blend in the bridge position. Nice MM type of tone with a little treble lift. Great for finger and slap.

And finally the outside two coils. Switch up, blend in neck position. A very “J”-like setting. Great for slap, nice and snappy.

All the woodwork and fretwork are just great. Everything I expected. However, the pickups are microphonic, which Pete Skjold confirmed yesterday. One way or the other, the pickups need to make their way back to Pete Hanewinckel so he can figure out what's wrong. As you can imagine, after waiting 20 weeks for this bass, I was majorly bummed about the pickup issues...
